typhoon1
Hi There Wonder if someone can help,i have been looking at some recent pictures of EF-18s at the TLP in Belgium and have noticed that some of them are carrying dummy canopy markings around the underneath similiar to the CAF CF-18s. But some of them look as if they are one colour overall now which looks like FS36320 Dark Compass. Anyone know if this is correct. Kind Regards Craig
Fuji
Craig, by far the best Spanish Hornet decals are the ones done by Series Españolas. They are printed by Superscale. I think the overall paint scheme is 36375 Light Ghost grey, and a very weathered oneat that. 36320 is way too dark, though the surplus Navy jets that were delivered in the 90s were 36320 Dark Ghost and 36375 Light Ghost greys. The newer schemes look lighter to me. Anyway, I can't say for certain as I don't have that sheet yet. Its on my wish list. http://www.series-espanolas.com/product_in...?products_id=

typhoon1
Any further feedback on the current EF-18 colour scheme would be most helpful . Anyone help. Kind Regards Craig
typhoon1
Seen pictures recently taken at Gando Air Base during a air defence excercise and several of the EF-18s have dummy canopies painted under the fuselage area like on the Canadian machines and they look overall grey in the paint scheme. Any Spanish modellers out there that could please clarify the current paint scheme used on the EF-18s is it still two tone grey or one overall colour. Kind Regards Craig EDIT http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6779132 http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6776823 http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6753634 http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6123821 12-06 (C.15-48) has had that scheme since at least mid year 2007 looking back though the jetphotos archives while 12-12 (C.15-54) has had it since sometime in 2008. 12-08 (C.15-60) seems to have also had it since about mid 2007 as had 12-74 (CE15-11). There does seem to be a couple of others, including 12-02 (C.15-44) Funny thing is I really didn't give it a lot of thought. Sorry for the earlier brain fart - as I've said, I'm not always right and I even forget what is locked away sometimes in my own head. If I get the op, I'll ask my friend who works with EdA and see what he knows. My first thought is it was a test scheme that may not have gone far considering that Ala 12 does a lot of work with CLAEX, their Strike Test Directorate and there seems to be no more than a handful that have it and no aircraft in Ala 15 or 46 have it that I can find either. Also, since 12-50 (C.15-36) was repainted recently, you'd figure it would have it if it was going to be a new fleetwide scheme http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6676136 If I find anything out, I'll let you know Edited February 28, 2010 by Fuji

typhoon1
Seen some recent shots of EF-18s on DACT training at Gando airbase in the Canaries and these aircraft are freshly painted and look like to me to be either FS36320 or FS36375 lighting conditions. Could someone confirm please in what colour these aircraft are painted. Kind Regards Craig
scotthldr
They are as far as I know the standard US Navy colour scheme of FS36320 Dark Compass(Upper) and FS 36375 Light Compass(Lower) In quite a lot of photographs they do appear to be overall 36375 Light Compass but it is a trick of the light and the Dark Compass bleaches pretty quick due to the Spanish sunshine. If I was building one I would go with Light Compass(Lower) and a 60/40 mix of Dark/Light Compass(Upper) http://www.f-4dablemodels.com/wp-content/u..._plan_front.jpg Here is a picture taken out of direct sunlight and you can see clearly the demarcation line coming off the LERX http://lh3.ggpht.com/_hqoWivXVLPo/SWC356qP...-18+refugio.JPG Edited February 19, 2011 by scotthldr
