jwest21
I received the new Italeri. Pretty nice...obviously just an updated ACH-47 kit with the approriate parts added and the gunship parts deleted. I was a little dissapointed with the decals. They do give you a Spanish, Dutch and Italian version,, which is great. Unfortunately they only give you 1 US version for the Texas National Guard (I swear someplace I read there were 2 US options). I would have thought they could give you a few US options, what with this bird being used in Afghanistan and Iraq and also that generally they are not a lot of markings. Otherwise, it should make a nice build
phantom
It builds up nice. I did mine as a Canadian C I flew in a couple times many years back. Mostly as I had not seen any refs to our modern Ds currently in Afganistan.
jwest21
That is some excellent work!! Did you use any aftermarket in there?
Stephen
Are there two kinds of nose in the kit? Stephen
jwest21
Are there two kinds of nose in the kit?Stephen I will have to check when I go home. I will let you know
jwest21
I forgot to mention, the Italian version is listed as a CH-47C and has a couple different building steps than the other 3 Ds
jwest21
I took a look in the box. The nose is 2 pieces, a large clear piece with a solid insert for the area of the nose below the front windscreen. There are 2 different clear portions, only one solid nose insert. Hope that answers your question, let me know
phantom
Thanks, no after market apart from the decals, which are Belcher Bits.
let_models
It would be nice if you have some pictures for the kit? what store you got it? Thank in advance! Let_models,
Ishthe47guy
Mostly as I had not seen any refs to our modern Ds currently in Afganistan. http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca There are two or three CH-147 pics in there. Ish, kind of restriced on posting pics even though I work on the actual aircraft
Ishthe47guy
Found this pic. http://www.canmilair.com/products.asp?cat=23&pg=
Koen L
Apparently Italeri screwed the Dutch markings in this release up so badly that the Dutch distributor pulled all kits back untill there's a better decalsheet! Koen
Gary West
It would be nice if you have some pictures for the kit? I'll second that request :D
RNLAF
Could you post a pic of the decal sheet? Thanks! - Rick
iaf-man
As I understand-the Revell kit is a rebox of the Italeri,or I got it wrong? Isaac
Skyraider Maniac
Apparently Italeri screwed the Dutch markings in this release up so badly that the Dutch distributor pulled all kits back untill there's a better decalsheet! Koen Thats just sad....
RNLAF
This is the decalsheet of the Italeri kit, I ''borrowed'' this pic from a Dutch forum. As you can see the decals for the Dutch version are completely wrong The roundels are wrongly partitioned, the color of the roundels are wrong, the text ''Koninklijke Luchtmacht'' is misspelled, the walkways should only have a red striping on the side etc etc. Also there were some issues with the shape of the nose... If only Italeri put some more effort in making this kit they good have made a very good kit. If you typ in ''Dutch Chinook'' in google you get loads of pics were you can clearly see the roundels, the text ''Koninklijke Luchtmacht'' and the walkways so I don't think Italeri put so much attention to the Dutch version. - Rick
arkhunter2002
AFAIK, the dutch chinook has a similar nose to the MH-47E/G, not the CH-47D. IMO, forcing that fit kind of spells disaster from the start. Stephen
Picked this up myself and hopefully it'll be an RAF HC.2 eventually after much work. Stephen
Gary West
Wow, those decal errors are incredible I'm not suggesting that one of the countries covered should have been excluded, but why would you exclude the second largest user of the D model after the US....the RAF?
ixgr1
----hehehehe not realy a drama for my porspective Aussie one. I belive even the unit marking is optional !!!!!!
sniperUK
Looks like an RAF HC.2 is now a step closer thanks to the Italeri super detail set for the 1/48th Chinook . Looks like all thats missing are the nose and tail RWR units ,unless they are in the kit and the rail aerial for the side, still needs the markings but it makes it a lot easier though it doubles the price of the model. Can some one now do this for the Trumpeter 1/35th please
Gary West
Looks like an RAF HC.2 is now a step closer thanks to the Italeri super detail set for the 1/48th Chinook . I've been asking for an upgade set since the first Italeri HC1 release, however at that price I won't be rushing in - ridiculous price - more expensive than the kit itself
JakubJakepilot
I hoped that CMK will do the exterior set containing IR jammers and RWR suite, but no luck, only in this boxing (it was specially done for Italeri). For that price i wont buy it, i am not crazy ...
jwest21
Sorry...lost track of this thread. The Italeri kit comes with 2 noses, so that is good news for the Dutch version AFAIK, the dutch chinook has a similar nose to the MH-47E/G, not the CH-47D. IMO, forcing that fit kind of spells disaster from the start.Dutch Chinook image from flickr MH-47 image from guncopter, com And finally you can see the CH-47 nose: image from boeing -Austin
