Darren Roberts
Well, I was able to beat the FM kit into submission. Actually, it wasn't all that bad. I used the landing gear and canopy/windscreen from the Monogram Panther. Markings are for VF-61 and are the kit decals.

jimz66
Very nice Darren. Very nice. Great paint scheme. Did they have the same stripes with VF-61 with White over GGG? What carrier were they from at this time? Edited April 3, 2009 by jimz66
Rampage55
Love your Cougar!!! ;) Outstanding work Darren. This is the first FM Cougar kit I have ever seen built. Very cool. <_< Mark
Darren Roberts
Very nice Darren. Very nice. Great paint scheme. Did they have the same stripes with VF-61 with White over GGG?What carrier were they from at this time? They did indeed carry this scheme in GG/White. Simply replace the white border with black. The rest of the markings were identical.

Martinsson
Hi Darren, I feel good when I see a beautiful, finished Cougar in 1/48 scale! Not many seem to have finished their FM kits, me included. I am glad that you find the fit to be OK. The gloss paint looks very even but the panel lines are a bit faint. Perhaps that is just on the photos. Cheers Martinsson

Perhaps that is just on the photos. Cheers Martinsson The panel lines were very shallow on the plastic. Then I had to sand the surface because there was a rough finish to it. After that came priming because of the gloss finish. Then came a couple coats of paint and Future. To keep the panel lines intact, you have to rescribe it before you even start. Let's just say I hate scribing! I finished it off and called it good. The panel lines are indeed a bit faint.
