Has anyone else had a problem with their website?

The front page opens fine but when I try to see the models themselves or Customers' models or almost any other link it starts to load the page and then freezes requiring me to Crtl, alt, del to close the window and then ALL open IE windows also close!!

Is there some special script they have on those pages that an older IE6 isn't compatible with?

EDIT

Mine does the same thing using IE 6. I can view the page with all the models shown, but if I click on any of them it locks up. One of the few instances I will open up Firefox to see the pages.

IE 6 is known to be full of bugs.... and its causing a few problems once your within the website.

You will need to update to IE7 or 8 to veiw Wingnut Wings website. I use IE8 at home and it works fine and the same for Firefox which I have at work.

Hope that helps...

Only problem I have with the site is that the pix load pretty slowly (using firefox here). Anyway, I am not a big WW1 fan but I think I am going to give these guys a shot. Just not sure if I want to go with the LVG or wait for the Pfalz. Either way, I wish these guys the best. It sounds like they have their hearts in it.

I am going to branch into WWI aircraft, but the thing that has held me back is the rigging and the difficulty of getting all the bracing and everything done properly.

But now I am planning on learning, and doing a great job

If you use nylon monofilament for rigging (such as fly fishing line), I think you will find that rigging is no big deal--time consuming, but not a difficult skill to master. I used to use stainless steel wire and hated rigging. When I switched to monofilament I came to actually enjoy that part of the build.

Good luck and enjoy!

Karl (apparently the only WWI aircraft modeler in the world who is NOT buying any WW kits--would love to, but have too much invested already in 1/48th scale)

Karl,

No you're not the only one not buying. Pretty soon all the teenage girl/boy-band squealing will die down, and things will return to normal. Don't get me wrong, I wish Wingnuts nothing but the greatest success, but you would think that NO ONE had ever produced a 1/32nd kit before. If it wasn't for Roden pioneering the injected molded WWI kit market the last few years it might be doubtful if Wingnuts would have come about.

I'm not ditching my 1/72nd kits yet. I may or may not buy one or two.

Well, forgive me for "squealing", but now that I have the kits in hand, I think all that squealing may be just a little bit justified. Everything about these kits is drop-dead gorgeous. From superficial things like the box, packaging and directions, to the attention to detail, surface textures, decals etc it's all simply stunning. These guys are doing it right, no question. Roden kits suddenly look cheap in comparison, and that's not a knock on Roden (I have several of their 1/32 offerings), it's just that the Wingnut kits are really THAT good, in the box anyway.

My package arrived in Chicago in 5 days from New Zealand.

Folks,

Just a few observations on the recent"WingNut Mania". I definitely agree quite a few got all excited with the launch of this company and their products. Most of the modeling forums had some buzz about it. But I do disagree about it quieting down. This is because folks are receiving their kits now, and can see for themselves the quality. Even those that only dabble in WWI are being quite impressed with the resulting product. Quite a few of us are finishing present projects, and clearing the bench for a WingNut product. They won't be fast builds for the most part. With this size and quality each sub assembly is a model into itself, and quite a few will slow down a little to enjoy the build. My point in this is, by the end of summer or early fall you just might start seeing these builds on the various sites...and at the competitions. This could be one of those instances where "Word of mouth",or "Line of sight, actually" may be the bigger boost. That will be the biggest boost to WingNut sales and reputation.

We'll see how many of these initial purchases actually get completed and put on the tables. I, for one, are really looking forward to it. What do you think, Gang ?

As long as folks realize that WWI a/c are not soot/trashbins when it comes to weathering, and that certain gaps are supposed to exist between parts (a friend of mine got dinged for his prefect rendition of an adjustable tailplane on a Sopwith from a judge who said he didn't fill his gaps), then maybe, yeah, it might be a good thing.

OTOH, maybe this will cause more people to subscribe to Windsock International, thereby injecting more capital into the publication to fund more Datafile Specials, articles, etc. :P

Must add my squeal to the fray.

Asa pretty dedicated WW2 and post modeller these kits are a prett new venture for me.

I will say straight away they are simply the best overall package i have ever seen.

Plastic is 95% Tamiyagawa quality but the instructions and decals leave Tamiya floundering in there wake.

These guys have set a new standard for kit packages. have never seen instructions with such amazing graphics and detail to help assembly.

To be congratulated at the highest level.

I got the SE5 and Brisfit and will get the LVG plus the Albatross and D7 now.

Great work Wingnut and man these are awesome kits. As a modeller happy to have them to add to the other 1000 or so kits in the collection. But this Se5 is hitting the bench tonight!

Add me to the impressed group. I got my Junkers yesterday and was very impressed with it. Even something as simple as the packaging. All of the sprues fit exactly in the box both side to side and top to bottom, zero wasted space for the parts to move around and get damaged (Hasegawa, are you listening?).

I too ordered WNW kits, SE5 and F2B. I have half a dozen 1/48th kits and a 32 Dr1. Always loved the "flying picket fences" (an expresion we use in Sweden for these old planes) but havn't built one for ages. Now with the Roden RR 1920 pattern armoured car it just screamed to me: 1920's, dessert, Iraq, Palestine, diorama. So a 1920, a Biff/Brisfit and maybe a RR tender car.

I just recieved my WNW Junkers J-1, I've never built a WW I aircraft mainly because of the rigging but when I saw these kits I thought what the heck and ordered away. Order was taken on 4-15 and it arrived on 4-21, New Zealand to Florida....not bad. Everything about this kit is really, really nicely done, hope I can do it justice, Tom

Hands down, these are the best new models out in public. I just received my LVG the other day. Took about 5 days to get it to Amarillo.

Upon receipt of the model and tearing into it, I was stunned by the quality of the kit that you guys mentioned above. What a great way to generate interest into WW I aircraft! Roden was doing a fine job as well, but Wingnutz takes the cake. I can really see some interesting and outstanding kits on WW I aircraft coming from these two outfits.

Should Wingnutz make some WW II kits, that would be most welcome as well! Can you imagine a 1/32 scale Val or Kate?

Thanks Wingnutz for expanding our horizons and giving us some joy in these tough economic times.

Big Texan :P

My J1 arrived today.

Superb presentation and contents. I have been watching a fellow modeller at the club build his and the inner and outer upper wings simply slot together with no discernible gap.

I am looking forward to making this kit.
