Hi guys heres my current progress on my build

As ive mentioned before this model required me to learn how to use putty!!

p1010350.jpg

this is after some putty

p1010363.jpg

ive had some problem with the cockpit fit. but as you can see the putty work came out great after paint

p1010399.jpg

this is the current progress. I have to do a clear coat and the im going to do my first wash to get the panels lines to show up more

p1010396.jpg

this is what ive done today. painted aluminium over the steel than i did a wash that has mat black, cooper, chrome and white spirits

p1010406.jpg

now comes the long part of doing the clear coat +wash + decals+ clear again, then finishing up the rest of the asembly

Comments are very welcomed !!

Cheers

Not bad, nice repair with the putty. Only problem, the burner cans you are using are wrong for the Blue Angels. For some strange reason they used the B cans.

Yeah i notice from the reference pics that i have that the can's are different but im going to leave them like that not worth buying aftermarket for that.

this kit is full of little things like that.

thanks for the comment :sign_spam:

Actually, it depends what year the jet is being depicted

I have photos of Blues Phantoms (during their visit to the UK in May, 1973) that clearly shows two of the aircraft with the longer burner cans.

So, technically, it could be modeled with the "wrong" burner cans.

However, as it appears that you are building the Revell-Monogram kit (which features markings from the 1969 season) then, yes, the wrong burner cans are included.

Clear as mud?

actually my kit looks so much like that pic... revell must have based their model on that BA f-4 model ( must be in the final years)

kstater98 claims hes seen a ba f-4 with long can in an air show before too in 1973

I suggest adding some burnt metal paint behind the burners. Also watch you placement of decals. 90% are spot on but the US NAVY on the sides is too high. Other then that minor point you have a model which turned out mighty nice.

hahaha i see theres no fooling you phantom!!!! i noticed that the us navy decal where too hight 2 days after when applying the Blue angels script but it was already too late i didn't want to risk breaking them !

For the burnt metal its actualy a good idea i might do the same wash as my burner cans

thanks for the comments I really apreciate it

Cheers
