oldfartmodeler
Greetings from the old guy; I just received the newly released Italeri Mirage IIIE kit and am wondering what's available in the form of resin and p/e to upgrade this old kit. My search of the vendors available to my show very little out there except for a company called "Eagle Design". They offer several resin upgrades for various Israeli and South American versions of this kit but I have no information or experience with their product. Any help or advise appreciated very much. Thanks in advance; Old fart Jim
Trojan Thunder
There is a resin cockpit and nose wheel well assembly available here in Australia by a company called High Planes. You can also get Martin Baker Mk4 and MK6 resin seats for it. High planes also does a generic Mirage antenna etch set suitable for the kit.
fsgray
Um, whoa, WHAT Italeri Mirage III?? Must be really new, didn't see it on the Squadron site anyway. How is it? One of the Esci molds?
Irving Babbitt
So far as I know, Italeri owns the Esci molds so this is almost certainly another reboxing. Here's a link to the neomega IIIE pit and to Linden Hill, their US distributor. What markings are you planning to do? Knowing which operator you plan to build would allow us to give give you more specific info.

I'm looking at building IAF Nesher after transfer to Argentina. Probably as used in Falklands/Malvinas conflict. Jim
Irving Babbitt
I believe you've got the IIIE with the large radar nose and the dopler buldge under the nose, right? To get to a Nesher (which became the Dagger) you'll need to replace the nose with the simplified wedge nose (sans radar) and alter the engine a bit. Here are two articles that outline the project, 1 & 2. I did a brief search for the resin parts used in the modeling madness article and came up empty, unfortunately. Also, the neomega pit that I linked you to earlier is (I think) for the radar equiped jet and subsequently of no use to you. At any rate the Neshers were primarily equiped with Israeli-developed avionics and the Martin Baker 6 seat. Sorry about all the bad news! On the up side, I'm sure someone around here will be able to help you out further.
Bryan H.
Eagle Designs makes a 1/48 Nesher and a Finger conversion. I've used the Nesher conversion (about 10 years ago) and you'll get a nice Nesher with a little work. Also, Aeromaster made a set of decals for Israeli Mirage IIIC & Neshers - I'm not sure who makes Argentine Nesher decals but I'm sure they're out there somewhere. I'll try & get a pic to show the finished product. and happy modeling, Bryan Edited April 17, 2009 by Bryan H.

No.11
Thanks for the information. I'm looking at building IAF Nesher after transfer to Argentina. Probably as used in Falklands/Malvinas conflict. Jim Hi Jim, These decals might be of interest to you: High Planes 4812 Falkland Daggers (http://www.hiplanes.dragnet.com.au/new/Decals/D4812_large.gif ) Aerocalcas 48015 Dagger / Finger ( http://www.aerocalcas.com/48015.htm ) Cheers Lawrence
dagger00
Hi: Well RD makes some good resin noses for Argentine Mirages Mara M-5, Finger and Dagger. Dagger was the name given to the sale contract, so it sticked to the a/c, the Finger is an upgraded version of the Nesher/Dagger, with the same radar Elta 2001-B (the name Finger was used for very obvious reasons, as the british refused to sell the electronics components after the Malvinas War, the FAA turned to the israelis, hence the name "Finger"). The Mara is the upgraded version of the Mirage 5 that Peru gave to us after the war, we removed the original nose and put instead the ex-Daggers ones, but with 2 little ECM antennaes. Here I leave a link to mercadolibre (like E-Bay but here in Latinamerica), you can see the nose there (http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-51832073-_JM) Every question you have, feel free to pm me.... dagger00
I forgot to mention, Aerocalcas and Condor Decals, both have argentine fighters decals of a very good quality. You can see them at : www.condordecals.com (maybe an ar after the com I don´t recall) and www.aerocalcas.com.
