All of the resources I have seen quote the original 6 aircraft used as:- 66-0016 66-0017 (written off) 66-0018 66-0019 66-0021 66-0022 (written off) And the 2 replacement aircraft as:- 66-0024 (written off) 66-0025 However... In the AirDOC F-111 book, there is a clear photograph of 66-0020 with the Combat Lancer flash! Some advice would be really helpful as I'm now somewhat confused!! Marv Posted April 17, 2009 Share Posted April 17, 2009 Well, according to Don Logan, in his book "general Dynamica F-111 Aardvark", 66020 was, indeed, configured as a Harvest Reaper bird, however, it did not deploy during Combat Lancer. I worked on several of the CL/HR birds when I was with the 428TFS/474TFW (INS/TFR, & Attack Radar). We called them "sports models" because they were a little different than the rest of the fleet, mainly in the avionics area. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Takhli bill Posted April 10, 2010 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Unfortunately the official Air Force history has some errors and evidently that information cannot be changed. Yes, Harvest Reaper aircraft were deployed for Combat Lancer. The 6 aircraft that first deployed were: 66-017 66-018 66-019 66-020 66-021 66-022 Replacement aircraft were: 66-016 66-024 66-023 was a Harvest Reaper mod aircraft but it remained at Nellis for crew training with the latest mods and updated systems. 66-025 was not a Harvest Reaper mod aircraft and therefore was not a Combat Lancer aircraft. However 66-025 and 66-027 did go to Takhli but only to ferry aircrew members to Takhli and back to Nellis. Good luck with your model.
