owen
what changes would i need to make to the tamiya kit of F-4E to end up with an F-4F of the german airforce. seriously considering having a go at the 50th anniversary scheme for JG 71. ST0RM
Owen, The Tamiya 1/32 F-4E is an early aircraft. For starters, you'd need a new wing to reflect the addition of slats, the MIDAS-4 long gun muzzle, and unslotted tail planes. As a cheaper alternative, you may consider getting a Revell 1/32 F-4F. It's quite cheaper and in some cases, better detailed. Good luck.
Eric2020
I do have the unslotted ailerons for an F-4F and I do need the slotted version for an F-4E so perhaps we can trade them ? PM me if interested.

You'd have to make some changes to the cockpit, for starters, since the Tamiya kit represents an early E. I'd rob the Revell kit of it's slat parts and splice them into the Tamiya wing. Then you could remove the slots from the Tamiya stabs, and that would just about do it. If you don't want to go through all of that expense and effort, you could get the Revell F-4F kit and add a new radome from Harold ( http://mysite.verizon.net/resqt29j/ ), which goes a long way to improving the looks of the kit's nose. That's certainly an improvement, but keep in mind that the F-4F ICE has a new, wider, radome than APQ-120 jets due to its wider radar dish. Jake

Can't imagine that the radome got wider when the fuselage stayed the same? Furthermore I couldn't find find anything about that in my documentation.
