Liberator GR Mk.VI "Kosťa", 311th (Czechoslovak) Sq RAF

Recommended Posts

Dear friends,

I would like to present my recently finished project. Liberator of the 311th (Czechoslovak) Squadron RAF. The brief notes about this maritime patrol squadron you can find here. "Kosta" is the nickname of this Liberator PP-K (UK s/n EV953) and it was often operated by W/Cdr Kostohryz and his crew.

The basic camouflage scheme is airbrushed with the Acrylic paints Gunze H.21 (white Off) and Tamiya XF-24 (Dark Grey). Both camouflage surfaces are lightly weathered with the various mix of Gunze H.21, H.303, Tamiya X-2 (White surface) and with the various mix of Tamiya XF-24, Gunze H.305, H.333 (Extra Dark Sea Grey Surface). All these mixes was high-thinned by Tamiya X-20A acrylic thinner (1:10). I used the REVI decal sheet "Czechoslovak Liberators" for the marking. The final weathering has been made by mixes of the various Tensocrom acryl washes, high-thinned color Tamiya X-19 (1:10) and various oil color mixes to the lines.

Of course I've utilized the Eduard photoetched sets and Pavla conversion set (the Leigh Light reflector, the rear turret BP and the radom).

Looks great! :woot.gif:

I was going to say that the ventral radome was only lowered during flight, but upon scrolling down I you used it to prevent tail-sitting. :coolio:

Again, well done!

Thanks guys for your possitive response! :worship:

Like they all said- it's a beauty! How did you do the chipping on the leading edges? It looks very random and so well done.

Cheers!

chuk

The leading edges are airbrushed with the Tamiya acryl X-32 (titanium silver) and afterward with the X-19 (smoke). The chipping is painted with the Vallejo Color (black grey).

The painted chipping is after drying carefully grated with a sharp wood toothpick.

Here are some pictures of interiors.
