Felinoid
I learned on the StarShip modeler website that Polar lights will be releasing a 1/1000 USS Enterprise Refit kit in December. Finally.... I was very impressed with their NX-01 1/1000 Enterprise kit and I'm hoping this will be up to that standard. I'm thinking Mirror Universe markings for the refit..... richter111
I just checked out their website, and it will include aztec decals
phantom
December, just in time for the Enterprise group build.
Ken Cartwright
Here's more info on other Trek kits they're releasing: http://trekmovie.com/2009/06/16/exclusive-...model-previews/ Enterprise from the new movie, and the Vulcan shuttle from the first movie, with magnets to hold it on the warp drive sled, among others
richter111
Given what the current vulcan shuttle kits are selling for, it will be a welcome relief. Just glad I have one of the original releases.
kellyF15
All I care about is a 1/350 TOS. That will probably be the greatest day of this century when it comes out.
richter111
Yes that one is absolutely going in my collection!
twhite80
Sweet! I can't wait! Maybe it will be out in time for the Enterprise GB!
phantom
I wonder how long a 1/350 Enterprise (TOS) would be? Look neat next to my soon to be built CVN-65 Enterprise.
Trojan Thunder
Was the original 1/1000 NCC 1701 kit the snap fit one? Perhaps they have updated the moulds for that one?
RedHeadKevin
Hang on... the new Movie Enterprise is 1/2500 scale, and is 11 inches long. The Refit is 1/1000 scale, and is 11.5 inches long. The New movie Enterprise is supposed to be over twice as big as the refit?!
Face
according to 'sources', the new movie enterprise is around 750metres long, in other words, she's even longer than the Sovereign class Enterprise E yeah, its just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard too
richter111
The theory I have heard floated around is that because it was more primitive technology, things would be bigger. If you look at the interior shots, it almost looks like an iron works in the engineering dept.
Face
it was a brewery, actually... and if old = big, then how come the original series enterprise was so small? The 750m size doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense from a scaling point of view, just compare the features of this ship, particularly the saucer section, to the refit enterprise, they're very clearly the same size and scale... PS I'm not kidding, engineering really was a brewery Edited July 2, 2009 by Face
C-130CrewChief
I'M A BIG FAN OF STAR TREK IN ALL IT'S FORMS! I don't realy care to much about the differencse between this and T.O.S. What I carre about is Star Trek not dieing. The ship grew on me over time and I think Gene would have liked it. It also seemed that it fit into the Star Trek rule book as far as how things worked etc. It doesn't look like the lost the spirit. The crew of the Rnterprise saved the Federation and Earth! That's what we expect in a Star Trek movie! I say Good job! Lets not bash this and embrace it. At least it's not an Enterprise movie! I hope all the cast goes for more movies! C-130CrewChief
I like how this guy thinks! Is this a real model company...lol this is from down the page on the 1/350 TOS Enterprise. "Development of the kit has begun. It has beaten the start of the new movie Enterprise by a full month. This is a kit that MUST be right in every way. It MUST be accurate. It MUST build better than the 1/350 Refit. (yes, I said better) It MUST be special. It will be our best effort to bring a definitive kit to market that requires nothing more to add to the subject." I like the way he thinks! Curt
richter111
They have been asking fans and modelers for inputs on how it should be done It will be one heckuva model when it is released. If Thomas Sasser is in on the project, it will be a good one!
RookieLSP
Release of the TOS E in 1/350 has been postponed until 2011.
C-130CrewChief
I can wait. They sound like they are doing it really good for us.
kellyF15
I cant think of anything better than a 1/350 TOS and 1/350 Refit side by side.
C-130CrewChief
I can, but I won't say it here.....
