Congrats on the new kid. Mine's a nearly three months old now, and my chances to get to the bench are very few and far between! I'm currently taking advantage of my wife having taken her to Sydney; I'm actually building things! Good luck getting this one done.

Things are moving along rather quickly now. Masked and painted the black stripes on the wings but why oh why did Academy combine the roundels and codes with the fuselage stripes?!!!! What a pain! I don't have the time now to source other code decals...oh wellI'm soldiering on. More pics coming

New pics!!

Okay so the wings were painted but the fuselage is all decal. I have yet to

1. gloss coat/seal

2. weather with a wash of raw umber

3. seal to cut down on the shine from the decals...

4 add the smaller bits and canopy

Does anyone know what color the cannon barrels were on these Spitfires? The Academy instructions don't specify and I've sen a wash of different stuff on the web...

Of course I cant find the pics I was thinking of, but all the period photos I have seen seem to show the cannon being left in their original camo color and not repainted to match the D-Day stripes

I'm finally done! I'm doing this update while feeding the number 1 son!!!

First rate build and congrats on your new arrival.

I returned to this hobby 8 years ago when I found myself stuck in the house late at night feeding the baby. She is building her own Spitfires now. Got to get them involved whilst they are young. :coolio:
