Victor
Hello all I got a model of a kitech su27 ub ,, I love that airplane so the cheap kit and bad quality didnt stop me from buying it , besides the price makes you build it without too many worries, I have read reviews of many other kitech kits that are pure trash and horrible quality like the f117 and some others but the su 27 and su27ub are some of the not so bad models from kitech, also Im falling under the temptation of buying the kitech su35 and fix all its canards, canopy and some other details but well I got the su27 twin seater and Im converting it into the su30 or why not the su35ub. Im sorry for not taking pictures from the beggining but here is what I have so far these are the crappy decals that come with the kit maybe Im only gonna use the stars but if anyone has som SU27 to 35 decals in 1/48 that could sell me or donate them I would be very thanfull I made a scratch build of the windshield like the su30, you can see the diference between the su27 and the su30 windshields
sv51macross
Hey victor, looks nice so far, keep it up! B) Good work on the new windscreen as well, cannot wait to see the canards! (or is it a canard-less Su-30?)
Victor
Hey victor, looks nice so far, keep it up! B) Good work on the new windscreen as well, cannot wait to see the canards! (or is it a canard-less Su-30?) Hey thanks a lot sv51macross yeah the windshield was easy to do because is practically a cilindrical shape that you cut in diagonal and of course Im gonna make both flankers with canards ..hehe yeah I got two of them but the other stills in the box :) and one of the spruce is the same spruce for the su35 kit and comes with canards, they are not acurate but theyre ok to fix and to glue them on the model. Moche
How did you made the windshield?
Samurai_Chris
How did you made the windshield? How anyone can love a single seater is beyond me. And that goes for the MiG-29 as well.. Twin seats all the way baby! Chris
Cloggy
Comin' along fine! And how refreshing to have a Kitech / Zhengdefu thread that hasn't thus far been full of denigration! Good luck with both your Su-27UB/30/35 kits ;)
Victor
Ok here I'll post some pics of the process I took to make the windshield, its not the best way to make a windsheld but I took the first things I had in hand, everything was at hand, I came up with this cheap way fisrt I cut the aluminium body of a wearever marker, the cilinder's diameter is the same of the flanker canopy in 1/48 then cut a clear piece of plastic of the called clambshell package that you even can find on the trash roll it and stuff it inside the tube heat it with a lighter but not too much , just enough to make it hot warm not burning here you can see the attempt of canards that come with the model but at least theyre a good beginig to start with, the shape is acurate but the mistake is that theyre like a solid part of the fuse, so I have to cut them and add a lot of putty to make the shoulders
rom
hey!! godd job with that windshield! very smart! good luck with the canrds!! thanks for sharing with us!! flanker rulezzzzzzzzz
masterqq
Hi.. good idea on the wind shield, I learnt something new today... :)
Victor
hehehehe thank you ,,when you dont have all the hardware and tools you have to improvize but I hope I get some god tools soon
Victor
ok here are the pics of the progress again , this time I was adding the canards and shoulders with a lot of putty, this the first model where I make a conversion and a lot of scratch building here I had to cut the canard piece to improve the shoulders I glued the shoulders to the fuse then I add lots and lots of putty, I had to let it dry all night so I can sand it, waiting is the annoying part here I started to sand and to blend the putty with the plastic until you dont feel the join and until you cant see it using this light reflecting method. Im sure that you do it the same way some pics of the dryfitting just to get more inspired and see how nice your work is coming hehe
sv51macross
(Edit:) By the way, are you going to try and scratchbuild a couple racks of FAB-120s for this thing? OR just R-27s/73s? Edited June 12, 2009 by sv51macross

zark
First of all congratulations for your model. Excellent scratchbuilt work. I know what you are going through becouse I have a similar kit, and I was so disappointed that I opened and closed the box only once in it's lifetime....BUT....following (copying ...) your work, this forgoten kit is back on its tracks. About the weapon load. I have built a chinese Su-30mkk in 1/48scale using mainly the academy kit. For the weapons I borrowed from a friend the russian weapons kit from trumpeter in 1/32 and transfered the diagrams in 1/48 scale. You can scratchbuilt almost anything you want and I am sure is up to your potential. Good luck with your model.

JackMan
I never knew a Zhendefu kitech kit could turn out so well. Well done! And very good idea with the windshield Edited June 13, 2009 by JackMan
Victor
I never knew a Zhendefu kitech kit could turn out so well. Well done! And very good idea with the windshield  hey thank you so much ;) it is like a model kit overhaulin, its a bad quality kit but almost all the pieces are molded correctly and have a an accurate form afterall nothing to win a model contest or maybe with a lot of work and skill but it can come out pretty nice. Thanks for stopping by :)
Victor
Ok here I have a little more progress on my su30, all the little details took a lot of time to make >.< but Im glad with the result so far here you can see how I made the relocated IRST with a part of a straw, it had the perfect diameter for it so I took the chance , I also masked all the canopy, leaving only the structural frames exposed for the primer paint and the fuel prove is also scratch build. I decided to glue the rudders already , one thing that took me a lot of work is to sand the radome to make it shorter, it was too long for a su30, I think they left if for the su27 early models. and the cockpit got a lot of work too, I made some seat belts and the HUD estructure but I wont take the mask off until I paint it with all the camouflage and laquer

ross blackford
:D G'day Victor, My suggestion is purely joking and fictional, but air superiority grey with red white and blue striping edged with silver and gold pinstripes with large high-viz kangaroo roundels above and below the wings and smaller ones and the 3 Sqn crest on the forward fuselage sides with the Australian coat of arms surmounted on a large Australian flag on the top of the fuselage with Royal Australian Air Force 100 years, smaller Australian flags and the 3 Sqn Southern Cross on the outer tail fins and the aircraft tail number in Roundel blue with rust and black pinstripes on the outsides of the fins. These are my ideas for special RAAF centennial special markings for the 2021 Avalon Airshow. I also have one of these kits that a cousin of mine picked up for a few dollars at a garage sale a couple of years ago so I'll have to give it a go one day. Thge silver and gold, rust and black pinstripes indicate our mineral wealth, silver, gold, iron ore and coal. There are those that would say I'm  but to them I say . This is all really just a bit of harmless nonsense. ;), Ross. Edited June 23, 2009 by ross blackford
sv51macross
For paint, I'll have to say the New grayscale Su-35BM splinter camo (see Anthony Wan's banner). Looks dope.
