That's a shame mate. Any reason for the decision?

I'm getting out of modeling airplanes due to the fact I have been working on airplanes for 20 years now and in that 20 years I have yet to finish a model of an airplane because I nitpick them too much, I want my models to look like the real thing, but I don't have the time, or patence to work on a model I know will never measure up to my standard because my standard is sitting on the ramp outside of my office.

I have also giving it up because you work and work at it to make it great and perfect but in the end it just sits on a shelf collecting dust. And now that I have a son with Autism it is nice to have something I can do that involves him and helps him and myself relax when he has a meltdown. So I'm pulling out the N-scale and going back to model railroading. And the cool thing about that is he enjoys it and no matter how much you may screw up a paint job, you can weather it and cover it up,(long live the Southern Pacific Railroad, the king of dirty engines).

I enjoy seeing everyones models and wish I had the time and talent to do the same kind of work but I don't, so that's why I'm getting out of the hobby.

David,

Darn shame to see you go. I tend to build very slowly because I always want to put just a bit more detail on a model. I'm lucky to complete two a year. My hat is off to you as a dad for taking the path that will lead to more quality time with your son. I hae a good friend with an autistic son and I often sit and listen to his challenges. All the best in your future hobby plans. I used to do model trains as well so I know you will have fun! Cheers!
