Hasegawa Falke #2, "FireMan"

Recommended Posts

Test pilot, Capt. Charlie "FireMan" Kilmerval, seen here whilst putting his test Falke through it's paces at the classified Strike and Air Warfare Centre. After experiencing a fuel leak that caught fire he is credited with regaining control and bringing his Falke back in for further evaluation.

"FireMan" was retained by the Strike and Air Warfare Centre and continued his career as an instructor until a fateful inline roller blade accident sent him into early semi-retirement. A witness claims that he may have been skating too closely behind a team from BrickWork's infamous "Top Heavy" Transport Squadron, an allegation that "FireMan" denies to this day.

Hello ARC forums, just found this excellent forum and thought a good way of introduction was to bring a cool toy along!

Here's my 2nd Hasegawa Falke. To be honest I havn't made any scale aircraft since I was quite young and am now quite some time from then...

Couple more pics here in my site if you are keen along with loads of other Maschinen Krieger Models. Not sure that they are applicable here?

Thanks for looking, commenting and feedback!

What the Falke is THAT?!?! :D

Just kidding. REALLY nice work man. These Hase kits are VERY tempting and build way better then most of the original issue Nitto SF3D Maks 3000 subjects.

BTW, is the Falke considered an anti-gravity aircraft or is it just an anti-gravity vehicle that hovers close to the surface? I've never been quite able to find a definitive answer on that.

thank you very much for the prompt and positive replies, sincerely appreciated!

richter111 - that's the spirit! This is a "Falke Armored Raider", a quick in and out, hit and run specialist vehicle for the Mercenary Forces in their struggle to wrest the Earth back from the grip of the Strahl, a heavy handed regime that have been given the mandate of controlling the Earth in the Maschinen Krieger universe, a SF line of kits developed by Japanese illustrator and model make Kow Yokoyama. Really cool stuff, I have a few of them on my site with many more coming, here's a little gallery if you would like a quick look;

Lin.K's Ma.K Gallery

Mostly I've worked on the suits so far but there are flyers, space ships and so on as well.

Jay Chladek- he he, yes the Falke gag is great, use that all the time too. Yes, the Hase kit has been very well received, maybe the biggest hit of the series so far. It's an easy build and lots of fun. The latest Wave kit is the Snake Eye and it's perhaps the best kit yet, fell together and really cleverly engineered.

Just making two now;

See them here;

BTW, is the Falke considered an anti-gravity aircraft or is it just an anti-gravity vehicle that hovers close to the surface? I've never been quite able to find a definitive answer on that.

Excellent question and you are right, there isn't a definitive answer on it. I'm working with Yokoyama-san and when we discussed this it was more a point that he wanted a name that befit it's role more than defined it's actions if that makes sense so where the addition of "Armored Raider" comes in.

Must admit to being partial to both ideas, both as a kind of land-speeder sort of deal and the other as like an aircraft. It's defiantly not a "fighter" though, that was one thing to get away from. There are some fan films getting around which depict it in flight and in the recent Maschinen Krieger Profile Magazine it did have photographs done up to have it in full flight so perhaps that's the best answer so far.

Hope that helps, thanks again for the wonderfully positive feedback guys, very much appreciated!

Hi Lin.K,

What a stunning rendition of the Falke :worship:

I've seen this from a link before, either on the Fichtenfoo forums or MaKs?

This sort of thing really appeals to me. I hope you continue to share your work here. It would be great to see some of your projects in-progress here on ARC.

Excellent work and welcome to the boards.

Enjoy your stay. :jaw-dropping:

Wow, agree with everyone, the paint job and weathering is FANTASTIC! I am a fan of SF3D/MAKS/Kow Yokohama models and designs.

I have to get round to building my stash of SF3D/MAKS stuff!!!

wish i could weather as well as that! I'll have to use your photos for reference in the future!

Thanks for sharing!

thank you so much again for all the kind words and the wonderfully positive response!

HOLMES - thanks for taking the time to plod through the galleries, really appreciate the warm welcome.

geedubelyer - thank you sir and yes, this one is naturally on the main English language forum of Maschinen Krueger dotcom as well as on Michael the FichtenFoo's excellent forum. In fact, Michael did this website for me and if you are on the market for one, please get in contact with him here. Really good stuff and he's getting better and better with it too.

Besides the 2 Falke so far, I havn't really touched on many flyers although they do of course appeal to me as do all toys cool. Will the ground and space based suits also be good to share here? Don't want to be a version of a that guy posting some stuff just because he thinks it's cool and everyone else is rolling their eyes if you know what I mean? :coolio:

olemanjoe- thanks and glad to find another fan of the series and Kow Yokoyama-san! yes please, with more new kits coming it's time to break out the stash and share some of your builds with us!

Thanks again guys, look forward to contributing more!

Cheers,

LOL, do post more of your stuff here, there isnt enough scifi modellers in here (although the ones who have posted their work here is all of super high standards!)

Yes, was a fan the day i first saw those brown 'recycled-look' boxes in the shops. I always drooled and dreamt of owning some of them, unfortunately a lot of them I couldnt afford as i was still in school then.

Last year I finally got a chance to see Kow Yokohama's work up close in a hobby shop in Tokyo. Love his raw rough painting style on those larger than life models.

olemanjoe,

Sure thing, will do!

Yes I remember that first time and the recycled tan boxes, "What the heck is this!?!" Was really timid at the time because they looked like real models and I had only just come back to it from making planes as a kid.

Last year - sorry I missed you. Was it in Super Modellers? If you have a chance, the date for the yearly expo has been announced, Nov 15. Should be a big event this year and a nice time of year in Tokyo to boot.

Cheers,

Lin.K

Lin.k-

Truly exceptional work. I have seen these models on Ebay and I love the design but your model has truly inspired me to build one. I will be honest I know nothing of the history or story behind the vehicle though but I like the look of it. Of all the Falkes I've seen online I haven't seen two that look alike. Is it pretty much "anything goes" as far as paint schemes? Welcome to ARC. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Looks great ! I had an idea to put a Falke and Kauz together as a Ma.K type "Pink Team". The Kauz is the hunter (white) with the Falke as the killer (red).

Once again, you've done an excellent job .

3Dguy - thank you very much and most pleased if I can help push someone over the edge to start enjoying the Maschinen Genre. The Falke is such a nice intro too and you are right, it's not so important to know that much about them, the look is 95% of the game anyway. They are for the most part just really cool looking models that paint very well.

The really short version for you is that it's a guerrilla strike vehicle for the Mercenary Forces (Good Guys), fighting back for the local people on a re-vitalised earth 800 years from now that is governed by a heavy handed, tight fisted regime. The Falke is envisaged as being hidden not far from it's targets and rolled out from concealment, garages and the like, to strike at targets of opportunity and to harass the Strahl Forces (Bad Guys). It's not a "fighter" or for front line combat and that's why the name change came in and I've helped Yokoyama-san to re-name it to an "Armored Raider".

Paint Schemes - Yes that's right, you can start with anything goes and we do see this. Everything from racing car inspired schemes in full gloss to very dark and matt stealth schemes. For a more canon look, Yokoyama-san has prepared a number of suggested schemes on the Paint Cards that appear both in the boxed kit (I think it's 8 in total) along with another I think it's 6 versions with decals in his new book, Maschinen Krieger Profile 1 Falke. Most of the schemes are reminiscent of what I would personally call the Golden Era of camo schemes, WWII. Yokoyama-san is very much an aircraft buff and has been the Editor in Chief of Scale Aviation magazine here in Japan for some years. These kinds of schemes with some artistic licence to help augment the shapes of the vehicle rather than disguise it like as you know, real camo is meant to do. My version is like this too although I have taken it from British Armor camouflage patterns used in Nth. Africa and adjusted it as a countershade to highlight and accentuate the curves of the vehicle. I hope that helps outline the basic concepts?

Thanks again for the warm welcome, hope to contribute as much as I can!

Hi GMK, thanks for the praise!! That sounds really cool and you are in luck, if you don't already have one, the Kauz is about to be re-released! It's a fine idea, and you could have one of the vehicles being commandeered by the other side. Falke are Merc, Kauz are Strahl so mixing htem in together opens some interesting back story. For the Merc equiv. of the Kauz, we have the Snake-Eye which might also work.

Thanks again all!

CHeers,

Lin.K
