Recon Draken instructions UP

Recommended Posts

That's kind of annoying, really. The 1/48 kit has been out for about a year, and Hasegawa's released what, three or four sub-types? The 1/72 Draken's been out for twelve years, and they still haven't released anything other than the original, initial version.

I've given up waiting for them to release a late Danish version; although, the modular format of the 1/72 kit would easily allow them to do that.

I know the 1/72 kit also released as an Austrian version, but don’t remember if it was the updated version with the RWR on the fin and the dispensers on the sides of the rear fuselage, like the 1/48 kit.

I think this is only the third plastic change release of the 1/48 kit. Decal variations aside, the releases were the J35F/J, J35O, and now the recon version.

What I can’t believe is that still no one has made Super Falcons for the 1/48 kit. We have a ton of detail stuff from Aires, some conversion stuff from Maestro (?) Models, and still no missiles.

Nope, the 1/72 version only changed boxart. Plastic parts are all the same, no matter if it's released as a Swedish or Austrian Draken. Sadly, I must say, since the Austrian OE differs quite a lot from a Swedish F or J... But I do cross my fingers that Hasegawa do see the potential of their 1/72 kit, now that their 1/48 scale kit has done so remarkably well.. :wasntme:

They've had twelve years of sales to gauge the potential of their 1/72 scale kit. The fact they haven't released real alternate versions probably indicates what the sales have been like.

Maybe Paolo bought every one they had? :D

Almost, I confess

Actually all kits @ HLJ were sold out by last Saturday GMT.

This kit come with too many useful parts for Danish versions to be lost.

By the way I'm pretty sure Hasegawa will reissue great part of it in F-35 Danish box next year.

  • 2 weeks later...

I received mine on Tuesday. Too bad I ordered only one. Need to buy one more when it comes available in Europe.

BTW, one of the best box art I have ever seen- I have to admit that I like T. Hoshinos painting style more than Shigeo Koike´s.

Is there another box art from this guy available, or is this his first?

Hi Guys,

FWIW and AFAIK the Austrian J35OE MkII used some mods as applied to late Danish birds, such as the fin top antennae. A resin conversion set for an Austrian MkII which is quite good can be ordered HERE. It is made for the 1/72 Hasegawa/Revell kit and contains a small PE fret for the cockpit panels, a new rear exhaust section with the dispensers on the bottom, a new decking behind the cockpit and the new fin top antennae plus some other stuff that I can´t remember right now.

Hope that helps

Rgds

Pierre
