Azgaron
I airbrushed it with Humbrol varnish, and applied silver fingerprint powder - a bit like S&J. Sorry, I'm lost, but what is S&J? Cheers, HÃ¥kan
theplasticsurgeon
That should say SnJ. http://www.hawkeyeshobbies.com/snj-spray-metal-paints.htm However I used aluminium fingerprint powder instead. First I airbrushed the model with Humbrol gloss varnish. Waited til it was dry - but not fully cured. Applied the powder with a cotton bud.
Azgaron
Thanks for the answer Tim! I've never seen or heard of this before, but it looks very interesting! Seems like something worth trying, as I'm building a NMF MiG-17! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
theplasticsurgeon
Declaring completion! Missiles installed this morning. This did turn out as a tailsitter - which the missiles didn't cure. I had to conceal a little more lead in the nose as well. This model will be at Telford in Nov for SMW. Huge thanks to Colin Small for the decals
theplasticsurgeon
Colin Small sent me this photo of XR753, as he remembers seeing her. http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/En...ning/0675727/M/ As can be seen, the crew had tarted up the missiles. Also the nose gun covers are a different shade of metal. So I've revisited the model.
