Any AM 1/48 600 Gal F-16 tanks?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if there are any aftermarket 600 gal. tanks for the F-16? I know that the F-2 has them but I don't want to buy the kit just for the tanks. I have a couple of late model F-16 kits(Sufa, Polish Block 52, etc) that could use them.

Why not, allot of guys here are buying sub-par kits just for the weapons.......

With the Isra set costing $25 I think I just might buy me a F-2, and you could turn and sell it if your not interested in the subject, and possibly get 90% of your money back.

I agree with Curt. The Isracast ones are actually copies of the Hasegawa 600 gal tanks from their F-2 kit. I've tried to use a pair before but they were very hard to work with and the details were not as good as I would have expected from Isracast. The price of a set of Isracast tanks is already 2/3 the price of a Hasegawa F-2 kit. Spend a little more and get nice plastic tanks and a great F-2 kit.

Alternatively, you could wait for the Skunkmodels weapon set.

Actually, depending on where you buy it, the F-2 kit can actually be found *cheaper* than the Isracast parts. So basically, it's cheaper to buy a set of plastic tanks, with a free kit thrown in, than to buy the resin set.

(IIRC, it was Lucky Model, BTW... might have been Sprue Bros. One of the two had an F-2 boxing that was less than the tanks last time I looked)

16.32$! :o You'd be hard-pressed to find a 1/72 F-2 for that price.

sorry but hasegawa, isradecals, wolpack...are about 9mm short...very noticeable...i think also Skunkmodel will copy the error....

Where is it missing the length? Is the whole thing compressed, or does it just need a 9mm plug in the middle?

Would also like to know where the 9mm are missing.

Regarding Skunkmodel copying that error, shoot RAYMOND CHUNG of Lucky Model a Private Message. Maybe he can forward your concern to Skunkmodel.

I don't know about Hasegawa, Wolfpack and Skunkmodel, but the Isradecal 1/48 600 gl fuel tanks are 0.03 millimeters shorter the the real one.

The real tank was measured today by a friend of mine (on my request) and the Isradecal resin tank was measured by a digital caliber.

The difference between them (after converting the real one in 1/48 scale) was 0.03 m"m (its 0.00118 inch)

12.1 cm (the resin one) and 12.07 cm (the real one after converting the real measure to 1/48 scale).

I don't know from where did you took the 9 mm...?

Some more on the missing 9mm. Bekim, who makes the masters for the 1/32 IsraCast 600 gal tanks, said the 1/48 tanks should be 121.906mm long. I measured the tanks in the Hasegawa F-2 and my digital caliper reports a length of 122.65mm. Pretty accurate. The tank in the 1/72 F-2 kit is 82.7mm long, while it should have a length of 81.27mm long. So the 1/72 tank is actually too long.
