Matt Roberts
Great looking build. For all of those wanting this one and the new Trumpy one, what paints and colors did you use on this build. Matt
ALPH
the green is a mix of tamiya paints : 2 parts of X28 and 1 part of XF5, my mixture seems to be to dark the red is a color from pebeo colorex technic : magenta Edited October 8, 2009 by ALPH
Matt Roberts
Thanks, the red will probably be the biggest problem as it seems to be more 'orangeish' and 'pinkish' than most of the common military reds and even automotive and railroad colors I can think of. I think a term is vermillion for it - maybe a Napoleonic uniform color. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_red Again a great looking build Matt
ALPH
Actually, i'm not completely satisfied with the red, I think it's a little to dark to. here is a picture of the red I did use. next time i think i'm gonna paint with a mix of createx flame red and Fluorescent red. here is the flame red The flame red is a little to orangeish, that's why i think a mix with fluorescent red can be a good solution but, Trumpeter may have the good solution
dragan_mig31
i really love your build.now i am intrested what is next?
ALPH
Thanks Dragan, for the next I really don't know yet, I have a lot of kits in progress on my workbench. the canopy is finally done. It's the first time I work on a canopy like that! and i think it's really a "plus" for a model. Edited October 10, 2009 by ALPH
geedubelyer
Hello ALPH, This must be some of the best paint masking I can remember seeing. What a splendid job. Your work on the canopy is so crisp and a vast improvement Also, for what it's worth, the red that you've used looks just like the reference photo that you posted on my monitor at least. ;)

Matt Roberts
Just a quick update on my question earlier on the red to use on this one. I got the Trumpeter one last week and the red is called out as 'Super Italian Red' color H158 in Mr Color and the green is H6 Gloss Green. Now for the rest of us who don't have Mr Hobby colors, for the red especially, I'd look to automotive colors and a Ferrari Red. I figure the 'Super Italian' probably means they couldn't get the copyright for Ferrari. Looks nice and I'll refer to this thread as I build my JF-17, even though I'll do it as an operational Pakistani one. The three schemes are the colorful one here, a demonstrator in what looks like a 'lightened' version of the Pakistani scheme (almost looks like it is using the Chinese colors mentioned in the J-10 threads) and an operational Pakistani in modern US Gunship and Neutral Grays ala the F-16s, even though the Tamiya colors are said to be the same as the demonstrator scheme. ALPH
hi matt, "Italian red" = tamiya TS-8 or X-7, for civilian ferraris and old formula one until 90's I think "super italian red" is the name for the Tamiya "TS-49" wich was used on modern ferraris formula one until 2006-2007. The TS-49 is lighter and slightly fluorescent. It could be a good solution if you don't have mr hobby colors in your local hobbyshop. Wolf_el_Real
Amazing Job!! Guys, Bronco and Trumpeter kits are the same? I would like to build an operational Pakistan AF JF-17.... Regards Edited October 16, 2009 by Wolf_el_Real
ALPH
No, they are not the same. If i had to choose, i'll take Trumpeter. They provide décal for almost all the pakistani JF-17 currently in service (number 101 to 110) and for chinese version, and more missiles. With Bronco you can only build the number 102.
