Scalebowler
Does anyone have any pictures of an airport fuel truck from around the 1940's to the 1960's? I have been trying to find a good picture so I can build one and include it with my DC-3 model.
Alvis 3.1
I found these pics on Google/LIFE magazine: http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...sa%3DN%26um%3D1 http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...DN%26start%3D20 http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...N%26start%3D140 http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...N%26start%3D140 http://images.google.com/hosted/life/l?img...N%26start%3D160 There was a kit in 1/48 a donkey's age ago from Revell, it shows up on EvilBay from time to time. It's not the same truck as in the Life pics, but it was a type that was used on airfields...I think... http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1956-Revell-Wh...708185004r25436 HTH a bit.. Spruemeister
This one may be from the mid 60's. Some of the other slides from this set have United 707s and Caravelles in them. The tractor I believe is an International. Rick L.
Scalebowler
Cool thanks guys! I found this on the internet recently and was wondering if this would work if I painted it like one of the trucks in the pictures. http://www.academy.co.kr/eng/ssCartimate/i...&imgMode=N#
Scalebowler
I decided to go with the Academy model and I have some custom decals made for it. Here is what I have. Sorry about the quality. The real decals look a whole lot better they just did not scan very well and the printer was low on ink. Here are the pictures I found that I based the decals off of. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimntexas/14724417/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimntexas/101055300/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnacaughlin...pool-884200@N21 http://www.flickr.com/photos/libertyordeat...pool-884200@N21 http://www.flickr.com/photos/libertyordeat...pool-884200@N21 http://www.flickr.com/photos/puppethead/1436279210/ Edited July 27, 2009 by Scalebowler
Spruemeister
Just be aware of the timeline for that logo. It wasn't used until 1959. Up till then Phillips used the orange and black logo. Rick L.

If so I need to change my logo a little. Edited July 28, 2009 by Scalebowler

But I think it do look to much miltary. Perhaps the ZIS-6 would look better: ZIS-6 This truck was was a licence built version of the american Autocar and reminds me of the truck on this add Shell add Björn B
Wayne S
Would the trucks from that time line be the same as home fuel? I am sure there are some diecast out there of them.

You are right about most people not knowing that. I even did not know that! I am going to modify the truck a little bit to make it look less like a millitary truck. I am going to try to do some work around the tank area to make it look more like the trucks in the pictures I have found. Should not be too hard just some need some styrene. And I already ordered the truck from the hobby store and paid for it so there is no backing out now. ;) Edited July 30, 2009 by Scalebowler
