I'm looking for any info or pics on this paticular B-52. All I have been able to find is one pic on airliners.net.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated. I have been wanting to make a model of this bird. Thanks in advance.

RYAN.

Thanks for the likn, Richter111. I did a google search and it turned up a couple of good pictures, but most of them were of the boom and not the strakes

or what ever you call them. It doesn't look too hard to modify the Monogram BUFF but I don't know if the D model differed much from the E model.

Is there anyone who can tell me the difference? Thanks in advance as always.

D's and E's are externally identical, differing only in avionics. However, the NB-52E required additional electrical power, so had the engine-driven alternators installed instead of the normal bleed-air driven alternators mounted in the fuselage. Therefore, the cowlings have the bulged external alternator fairings like a B-52F or G (in fact, the engine installation on the NB-52E was sourced from an F). The engine installation also has a different oil cooler arrangement, without the oil cooler in the center of the inlet. So, you would need to source a new set of engines or modify the Monogram engines. You could probably use the engines from the AMT/Italeri B-52G (they're the right style), or Daniel Phelps (Golden Dragon/BUFFMaster/Superbug/whatever) was supposed to do some F-model engines in resin, but I don't know what the status of those are.

Just a quick note - I don't know who originally took them so I really ought to put a caveat to that effect on the website!!

Good idea on the caveat! :woot.gif:

Have to say that I am very surprised at a reputable organisation such as the IPMS UK posting copyrighted photos on their webpages, providing a download function as well is just plain cheek!

Oh well, going to take it up with them direct :)

We're all here because we share a common interest and I for one will always play fair!

I'm also involved in the American car scene here in the UK and have ended up taking a back seat as a result of far too much foul play - at the end of the day, life's too short and there's no reason why we can't all get on and apologise for our mistakes :deadhorse1:

Michael - thanks for pointing this out!

Chris
