Vermont Air National Guard F-16 Trio

Recommended Posts

I just completed 3 1/48th Hasegawa F-16Cs from the 158th FW of the Vermont Air National Guard

The first one was modeled after "Lethal Lady", 83-1165, which surpassed 7000 hours and was retired in Nov 2008.

You can see Philippe Colin's photos here - thanks to Philippe for having the photos posted there for reference.

I made "TJ"s name and added more bombs to the mission tally. I also made the decal on the tail for the 7000 hours, and the "Lethal Lady" intake art, and printed on my deskjet. It was the first time I did inkjet printing, and came out decent.

I also did the serial number and Ethan Allen figure, which printed fine, but developed some darkness around them once on the model. I think repeated applications of setting solution disovled the ink a bit.

Here's a shot with the 5000 hour badge, but the jet has a 7000 hour one now

I also added from the scratch the reinforcement plates on top of the fuselage. Weapons were as depicted on the final flight, and include Dr Pepper Resins Litening pod. for the right wing AIM-9, I simply snipped off the forward fins, and sanded smooth. This was actually an A kit, and I stole a C model tail from the Monogram/Revell F-16C.

The display plaque is simply a 4x6 photo, done in Photoshop, and a flat acrylic frame (with the magnet on the back) that is secured to the base.

Finally, the 60th Anniversary jet from 2006, also on the Two Bobs decals

I kept weathering to a minimum, and simply added 2 AIM-120s along with the 4 blade antennaes in front of the cockpit
