Rhodesian hunter questions

Recommended Posts

hiya

got some questions about Rhodesian hunters im trying to solve:

- I was considering modeling R1258 or 11 which features the green/lion in

the earlier fuselage position, before it was moved to the nose. was this

roundel also found on the upper/lower wings as with the previous

version?

(from the photo it looks absent, but ive found before with iraqi insigna, if the wings even slightly reflective the roundel can be obscured!)

it is hard to tell from photos whether these aircraft are wearing the

Grey/green scheme or the brown green scheme by 1970.

- additionally i was wondering what year hunters started carrying the golf bomb?

:salute:, g'day Ray.

Can you tell me please what the small general transport is that the Hunter appears to be escorting? It looks like the original configuration of the GAF Nomad as first put on paper. I read somewhere in the 1970s that the retractable undercarriage and twin engines were added later at the request of the Australian Army for safety and economy reasons and to increase the cruising speed slightly.

:),

Ross.

Hey Ross,

That small general transport it is not. It is a Aermacchi AL.60 Trojan single engine observation aircraft.

Raymond,

The Rhodie hunters from my research did not have any roundals on the wings.

I don't have my material with me right now. I have some more reference on them you might find useful.

I will try to dig them up and send them to you when I can get to my stuff.

Alan
