B1 exhausts???

Recommended Posts

I am gonna work on a 1/72 Revell B1...eventually. My brother-in-law is a B1 commander so I want to make it rather current. The kit is modeled with turkey feather exhausts. I want to model it without the turkey feathers. I know that there was after-market turkey featherless exhausts made at one time and they were kinda pricey when they were in production. Now, if one can find them, they are very pricey now that they are out of production.

Is there something else now? I cannot find the turkey featherless exhaust that were once in production. I saw the pics of the one that was made with a plastic cup. If I tried that it would look more like a plastic cup than the turkey featherless exhausts that I was trying to make. I am looking for after-market turkey featherless ehausts or an alternative (maybe a different model). I am not sure of what to do.

I seem to recall a Fine Scale article years ago that discussed using 1:48 featherless F-15 cans to simulate the Lancer's F101s in 1:72, though I can't remember if any mods were needed to get them to fit right.

OK...I want to get back to this. I am not into the exact accuracy of models. The only one that will see this that MIGHT point it out is my B1 pilot bother-in-law (and if you notice...that is a BIG MIGHT). I am going to keep my B1 in my "rotation" of models to do. I have seen many people say that 1:48 F-15 exhausts would work in place of the feathered exausts that come with the 1:72 B1 kit. If noone comes out with 1:72 B1 featherless exausts I will go with the f-15 featherless exhausts. What and where do I get the after-market 1:48 F-15 featherless exhausts? I would like them to fit as good as possible!

Also, I would like to get as many after-market PE and resin sets as I dare. What else is out there currently in production or something that is not so hard to find that is OOP?

THX

HEY YAS (again)

See my post in the "Marketplace" section. Any information leading to the purchase of 1:72 B1-B featherless exhausts would be GREATLY appreciated!! Does your local hobby shop have them? Do they have a website? Since I work for a major airline I would even consider flying somewhere to get them.

(maybe more to come)
