Azgaron
Here's the kit I'm participating with! Here's the box! And as usual Matchbox has these beautiful colored sprues! and of course the clear parts with the lovely stand, that I plan to use! The decals! The protective paper seem to be somewhat stuck, but I hope that it'll turn out Ok! The instructions calls out for interior green in the cockpit, but on most pics I've seen it looks black! slick95
Cool choice! I'm surprised the canopy sprue isn't purple. SLICK
peebeep
You are correct, the PR9 cockpit is basically black. peebeep
Trojan Thunder
I've one of these somewhere, will be keen to see how you go with yours. Will it be OOB?
Azgaron
Thanks! Slick, isn't three colors enough! But I get your point! Yes, I'll build it oob! I thought I'd just have some fun and relax from all the detailing! Here are some pics! I've painted the interior black! And then I've added a little paint to the instruments! Got started with the pilots, and will pretty much paint them according to the instructions! When they're done it's time to put the cockpit together! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Azgaron
After a few hours of work the pilots looked like this! Needs some touch up, then I can put them where they belong and close the fuselage! Don't know why Matchbox bothered to do two pilots, and even less why I painted both, as only one will be seen! Cheers, HÃ¥kan

Azgaron
Thing are going pretty fast now! Here's the last pic of the interior with the pilots! After the pit was assembled and in place, closing the fuselage and assembling the wings went pretty fast! Doesn't it look nice in all its colors? Now all I need to do is some filling and sanding before I start painting! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Graemeb
AAH one of my favorite jets, a oldie that still looks good.
Julien (UK)
Looking good. The paper should come of those decals with no problems. Julien
Azgaron
Thanks Graeme and Julien! :) Yes, it's a nice plan! I hope the decals will work fine! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Trojan Thunder
Great progress HÃ¥kan, nice paintwork on the pilots.
Azgaron
Thanks Ray! Small update! I tried a trick with the seams I never tried before, by using ethyl acatate, I removed the excess filler, and I think it turned out great! Just a little more to do on the underside, but as the pilot tried to defect several times while working, I had to try and glue him properly and let dry over night! Soon time to get a primer on! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
slick95
Lookin' good! SLICK
Azgaron
Thanks Slick! Got some primer on, and need to get some on the underside as well. Then I'm soon ready to start painting! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Trojan Thunder
With your build going so well HÃ¥kan I am tempted to find my kit and get building it Edited August 18, 2009 by Trojan Thunder
Azgaron
Thanks Ray! If you do, I love to see the build! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Azgaron
Got some work done on this one, for once! Once dry, I'll start with the bottom color! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Trojan Thunder
looks like it is almost ready for paint, almost there HÃ¥kan!
Azgaron
Thanks Ray! Yes it's soon time to paint, and I hope I'll make it, but I had to fix the lights on the wing tips first! I tried to take a pic to show the sink mark, but at least the drilled out and painted bulb shows :) Had to put on a few layers of CA and did some sanding inbetween! Now I'll need to do the underside too. I'll show pics of the polished lights when done! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
ross blackford
:), looking at the driver and nav in this model and their positioning I wouldn't want to be a real nav in one of these things. I get the feeling that you'd know that every time the driver moved his feet full distance on the rudder pedals he would be almost kicking your headbox in. Just an observation from the model and from having sat in several real Canberra Mk.20s. I know, not quite the same thing but the space being at a premium is similar. , Ross. Azgaron
I don't think I would like to sit there either! It looks very crammed in there! I've looked into one the swedish Canberras, and I guess being claustrophobic isn't one of the things you like to be inside one of them! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Azgaron
Well, I've made some small progress! I masked and glued the canopy! I also shot some black over the frame! So now the plane is ready to paint! How the lights turned out? You'll just have to wait and see! Cheers, HÃ¥kan
Big Kev
Lovely work HÃ¥kan! All these Matchbox builds really bring back memories for me, though I never built the Canberra kit. Kev
