What color is the lens on the left side tail lights? The right tail is red, but the left I thought was blue, but in some pictures it looks more clear than blue. The left wingtip is red, but the right wingtip is definitely blue, right? The wing root lights I know are red...

Should be clear, I believe it is the strobe light.

Another Q: Why are the wing root lights both red? I could never figure that one out.

No need to have it Green, The lights are still inboard of the plane. There are regulations for lights, I forget the site URL for the true info but this might help.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigation_light

In a sec Ill post of pictures that people might find helpful from an F-15D I shot.

Murph - didn't know that - thanks

I am amazed at how bright the right, red tail light is - I can see it for miles as the F-15s head south when they do night flying

Anyway, you can Vector them my way? I will not tell anyone it was you who did,

Why are they so dirty!?

Plane was pretty dirty. My guess is, it was not only dirty from flights but also from grease, Hydraulic fluids etc. from working on it.

Pretty much like working in an engine bay of an old car that has oil and grease all over it, Vs working on a new one.

I guess they only have so many cans of brake cleaner and rags to clean it with. When the cans and rags run out, your done.

The guy who built the lighted Eagle on display at this year's Nats sure seems to have gotten the lights right - any of you get a load of it? I felt is was one of the highlights.
