Supertom
Hi everyone, First of all, thanks to 72linerlover, Silverback and Terryt for their help in the scale calculations. I have another question - has anyone tried to tint Testor's Metalizer paints or Alclad? Some Testor's kit boxings have suggested adding a few drops of orange paint to their enamel Chrome paint to achieve a titanium color, and I was wondering if the same could be done for these higher-end paints. Thanks in advance!
72linerlover
You are welcome, Supertom, for the scale calculations. I recommend you not to mix Alclad II with anything. Never tried Testor. Alclad II Chrome is really shiny per se. I painted Chrome at the work some pieces of a prototype lamp that will be steinless steel and it came really well. The Alclad website gives tips for mixing and not mixing. Euge
terryt
Here are some tips on Alclad, you also might want to browse his whole website, he does some fantastic work. http://fp.enter.net/~floch1/models/alcladthoughts.htm He does tint Alclad and I have tinted Model Master Metalizers, just don't use too much of the tint. mkimages
The Alclad II line has a few "clear" colors that work great for tinting the metalizers. I have heard (it may have been from Tony Hipp himself) that you can use standard enamels to tint the metalizers as well, but I have not tried that yet.
CrowTRobot
I tint Alclad WITH Testor's Metalizer. It's an economical (read cheap) way to stretch a single $$$ bottle of Alclad into multiple shades.
