Major Kong
Being totally aware of the inaccuracies of the kit and my own inabilities as a modeler, I'm still rather pleased with the results. (Notice the subtleties of how the landing gears are on the bottom and the wings stick out from the sides.) This is about my sixth completed project after a 20 year hiatus. This is also the first kit that I actually enjoyed and only did superficial damage to my forehead from banging it in the wall. (Earlier attempts required surgically grafting a metal plate in my head.) Take a look. Laugh, cry or avert your eyes but do drop a line, I can take it. Thanks, Sandy
Fishwelding
That would be an excellent result from an easier kit, and that's not the easiest kit to put together! Great job!
ST0RM
Despite the age of the kit, it turns out really well. Yours is no exception. Great job on the Red Devils Phantom. -JS
Rampage55
Outstanding effort!!!... I especially like your choice of markings... Mark
BOC262
Beautiful Phantom! More proof that you don't need the latest "super kit" to turn out a nice finished product.
CrowTRobot
Very nice! Phantoms look good in red.

CorsairMan
If I am correct - this is the monogram kit with the cool and dramatic box art from back in the day? I remember buying this kit as a kid because of the box art. I then remember there was something missing from the kit and I returned it. The store exchanged it for the black Phantom. I didn't like that one as much and I remember screwing up the build. Oh well - that was a long time ago. Nice job!
Major Kong
Thanks to everyone for the kinds words. This kit actually is the "black" one, Vandy 1. This had been sitting around for many, many, many, many, many............(you get the idea)years and the declas were totally shot. When you come down to it the MicroSclae declas I used weren't any younger just in better shape. Most of the common markings were scavenged from a Hasagawa kit. Besides, I'm a former Jarhead and it seems only proper to pay homage. If I am correct - this is the monogram kit with the cool and dramatic box art from back in the day? Darren Roberts
Gorgeous work! I love that old Monogram kit. I try and pick them up whenever I find one at a show.

Clumber
GORGEOUS! Everyone can use a "landing gear on the bottom, wings stick out from the sides" kit on occasion! For me, I have the War of the Worlds kit sitting "on deck" for the next "slam against the wall" moment i have with the Whiskey conversion that i have already screwed up beyond ever letting anyone outside of our house see, but am finishing it because dammit ... well because. So that WotW kit might get sprue snipped as soon as tonight.... lol Question - I didn't know there was such an animal as a "former jarhead" ? I thought that one stops being a carbon-based lifeform long before any part of the jarhead dissipates...
John B
An old Phantom kit (with raised panel lines) marked with old Microscale decals for a K-Bay squadron? Still a very nice-looking result. (I biased towards Phantoms and Marine subjects, so a Marine Phantom is good-to-go for me.)
