WOW. :P Those guns are fantastic! What scheme are you doing the aircraft in? Cheers Guys .. should get some paint on that stuff today.. I'm going to be away for a conferance in Wellington for the next 3 days so wont get much done this week. I work for a Regional Government org as their GIS / mapping specialist. Dan she'll be done in grey tones. Andrew
Andrew MacKay
Dang when you have it closed up... all you can see is the 105, there is a 40 hiding behind it. Might have to open the starboard side door so you can see it. I've also had to redo my photosetup, scored a 30 mt roll of plotter paper that had a damaged edge, its 117 cm wide and quite heavy. This reminds me that I must run a steel spar for the wings, I realy doubt that any glue will hold. Cheers Andrew MacKay
richter111
Those photos have to be from Hurlburt Field!
Andrew MacKay
Back from conferance, and a little more done. Things will be slow for the next few weeks as I have a broken wrist (dont ask) trying to work with a cast on is danged difficult. I can airbrush OK with my left hand but anything else is just about imposable. Cheers Andrew MacKay
OriginalMonty
Kudos for trying to do anything with a broken wrist! That sounds really difficult! It looks pretty good, I'm catching you up though! hoping to get the fuselage sealed this weekend. One point for your flooring, every shot I've seen of the inside has red patches on the floor around the rear two guns. Have a look at the reference shots in the Walkaround on this site. Not that I'm putting your model down, it looks awesome anyway!
OriginalMonty
Just thought I'd put a note in here for you - the reccomended 80g nose weight is not enough, you'll have to add more than that!
aircommando130
The couple of herks that I built I put them on a display base and put small machine screws in the nose gear tire and one in each main gear tire. Then I drilled a hole in the base and when I was done I slid the screws through the holes and put the nuts on from the bottom and it kept it from moving around or sitting on it's tail. I'm going to do the same thing for my Carpetbagger B-24 and Korean War B-29...dang it...more room required in the model area!!
aircommando130
I forgot to add that your guns look awesome!! When I'm done here I'm going to take my AC-130H I've been working on for years now out to the trash...Great job so far
Andrew MacKay
Just thought I'd put a note in here for you - the reccomended 80g nose weight is not enough, you'll have to add more than that! She has 200g of lead in the nose and behind the stairs .. no tail sitting for this model. We had our roof replaced recently so have LOTS of lead sheet available Andrew. Andrew MacKay
Your broken wrist healed in 2 weeks? DAMN! They though it was a crack in my scaphoid but the second set of xrays show'd it wasn't, just heavy brusing to the tissue at the base of my thumb. Andrew

OriginalMonty
You're telling me! Can't find fault with the actual metal though. If it helps, I could do mine tonight and put up a step by step of how to do it?

Andrew MacKay
Just noticed that I haven't posted these ... The finished interior with LED lighting. With one very casual/scruffy Crew Chief.. Edited December 2, 2009 by Andrew MacKay
OriginalMonty
Missed these with the LEDs Andrew - that looks really good! I assume you are going to change the elevation of the 105mm external part - its molded pointing horizontal to the fuselage. Thats why I did my inside piece horizontal.
