Tomcat RIO
the tail would require further putty and epoxy work to get the right contours. i replaced the original tail end of the spine from the kit with a regular parachute tail. Academy was decided to be Egyptian, and i will call it Acad egypt. the painitng was straight forward, but i left out the outer wing pylons because need to stick the orange panels. some sanding required on the intakes again managed to get the exhaust cone flush the cockpit was too bluish grey. resprayed later the 5th kit that was built was the hasegawa weapons school boxing. it was decided to finish in bahrain markings. since so many people have built hasegawa kits and discussed so much i did not take WIP. intake area was sanded again and again to remove the step seam overall sky grey was sprayed, in a darker shade than 'ita omani'. landing gear bay details i opted for a A2A loadout and did not put the center wing pylon the 4 ship and 5 ship on the work bench
Tomcat RIO
all the dark greys and shades were sprayed at the same time as the 1/72s when there was oppurtunity. this saved me paint and hassle later. call it a fast forward cheat code. started on the Tamiya kit intakes. took a lot of dry fitting to get the top 2-piece fuselage flush the rear fuselage required some clamping because of the thinness of the edges. As for the old hasegawa f-16B, the spine was puttued and sanded repeatedly, until i was sastisfied with the flush smoothness
Tomcat RIO
this is the revell's wheels. wierd to provide seperate pieces.. casting the 4 piece bird slicer antennae from the hasegawa Sufa kit. and mounted on the bahraini hase and oman. following final rund of painting, the vipers were given a clear coat to enamel wash and decal taiwanese italeri omani spined back bahrain the very simple Jordan Revell ADF underside of the italeri just a small portion of the white wheel and LDGs the main LDG was fitted on the revell so that the center pylon could be permenantly glued
Tomcat RIO
singapore 52D was sprayed in patches the fleet stands washed and bright for decalling also further worked on the Tamiya F-16E block 60 conversion. added placard to the tail and epoxy up the balance. Tomcat RIO
after 15 sessions of sanding, puttying, sanding.. then added the scoops and intakes modded the fuse exhaust by filling it up, to fit the huge-r exhaust, casted from the hase Sufa. casted the small aux intake near the main jet intake, found usually on spinebacks and E/Fs sanded flush the nose and had probelms with alignment of the 2 panels

Tomcat RIO
1 by 1 ViperVendetta part 5 is finished.. 2 weeks of decals sticking, small parts pasting, landing gear mounting. clear coats. flat coats.. Egyptian decals from the Zotz VV1 sheet kindly exchanged from a friend for a branded modelling knife. 9523 was handbrush painted over grey stencil decals fuel tanks was added canopy masking tape removed and polished. a gaia flat coat sealed in the goodness
Tomcat RIO
the old italeri Pakistan A also had decals from the zotz VV1 sheet once all the decals were dried on the gloss coat, i sealed it in flat, and added the canopy. since the kit's cockpit was sacrificed to the taiwanese one, i opted to paint it black and put it inflight. following that was the hase Bahrain. i used the same VV1 sheet, but instead of using the newer correction markings of 'royal bahraini air force' i used the older 'bahrain amiri air force' canopy mask removed after flat coat landing gear was fixed up [
Tomcat RIO
next is the Jordanian revell, stuck with decals from zotz VV2 and also kindly given by a forummer on another forum. finally, the taiwanese italeri, using spare decals from a 1/48 F-5A/E sheet 6666 was arranged from the academy decals, then handpainted over in blackish grey. fuel tanks were decalled and mounted
Tomcat RIO
fixed and primed the casted exhuasts and intake scoops of the blk60. i made them using template from the hasegawa and kinetic Sufas.. the nose RWR, bumps were from the unused extra parts in the hasegawa Sufa kit. new panel lines was scribed to denote the different AESA radar housing of the blk 60 CFTs casted from the kinetic kit, it was the best fitting to the tamiya bodyshape casting quality was not good as there were many potholes, these were filled with normal grey tamiya putty. Tomcat RIO
mounted the casted CFTs on the tamiya kit. the best fitting still will require much putting and sanding later. also added chin rwrs from the spares in the kinetic Sufa kit and polished up the exhaust vents
Tomcat RIO
some updates after a longgg time. the f-16E tail recieved from scratch and spare parts. then it was primed. the cfts had no probelm. added bits and the nose was painted a dark grey before masking. then followed by navy bluish grey and light grey. no masking and free hand only. while holding the tail, it slipped out and dropped on the floor, bending the nose flat. will repair this. Qian
WOW! Excellent work of conversion on the Block 60! Looks like nothing can stop you from converting a Tamiya Viper into Block 60 standards! Awesome! Keep up the good work..
JackMan
Wah lau eh, brudder! You champion leh! also finished assembling the pile of kitech. and casted with rubber mould a block 50 'big mouth' intake for the Chilean A.F. version CFTs casted from the kinetic kit, it was the best fitting to the tamiya bodyshape I gotta know: For the mold, are you using that Oyumaru stuff from that $2 shop, Daiso? Y'know the rubbery stuff you heat up in hot water & then press the master part into it? Won't the heated mold 'melt' the original plastic master? If possible, can you post a brief step-by-step pics of how you made the copies of the big mouth intakes? I've been wanting to do that too. I got a bunch of 1/72 Hase F-16Cs & Ds that have the GE exhausts but only the small mouths.
