Here's a few photos of my F-8P Crusader of the Philippine Air Force depicted as it was at Basa Air Base, Luzon, 1991.

Sorry about the quality and the "authentic" lighting

I made it from the 1/72 Italeri kit and made the decals with my inkjet printer

Not sure if I will join this build yet, will have to find a suitable kit.

Here is the Greek A-7H I made last year. It's the 1/48 scale Hasegawa kit. The tiger stripes are hand painted, the tail / nose and greek flag markings are home made decals upscaled and re-painted (in the case of the tail) from the Hobbyboss 1/72 scale sheet.

Ian, that banner pic looks like it was taken at Mildenhall. Ah, the memories...

Happy days, eh, Cloggy!? The one and only A-7 I've ever seen and I've got the decals for it to use in this group build!

Julien, that AMARC F-8J is impressive! What did you use for simulating the spraylat?

MigM - thanks for the F-8P pics! These will help me while I attempt my one. ^_^

Hi,

spraylat was done with tipex, and a tipex pen for the thin lines. The balck lines were done with a fibre pen.

Did you never see any of the Portuguese or Greek A-7's?

Sadly not, Cloggy. The only A7 I've ever seen was the OH ANG A-7D at Mildenhall (222 "Scrappy"). I did see a Portugeuse G91 (nice!) but that's a different story!

I did this last year for our IPMS Chapter's club table at the Nats. The idea was to have as many Pittsburgh-related subjects as possible. Many of our members' contribution wound up in the contest, rather than the display table. Unfortunately I could only stay for the day on Friday, so this model only had ~7 hours of table time up on the mezzanine.

This is a 1/72 Hobby Boss A-7D. The aircraft served with the PA ANG here in Pittsburgh. The date is 1983, and the unit is in the process of moving from SEA paint to Euro 1. There is nice detail in the kit, but there are some shape issues (discussed elsewhere), and NO cockpit panel details or decals!. Decals are AirDoc, which were excellent. The loadout is mainly Hasegawa aftermarket from the 80's. The drop tanks are kitbashed, the bodies are from a Fujimi A-6, while the tails are from this Hobby Boss kit. The ECM pod is shortened from a long ALQ-119. My idea was a rather full, but still plausible, training mission load for the period the decals represent. Each individual piece of ordnance was confirmed in period photos.

I hope you enjoy it. Best of luck to those in the group build! :)
