Seems like years, finally finished something! Snowspeeder

Recommended Posts

Aloha All & Happy Thanksgiving :)

Want to make a quick post before I continue with "Turkey day"... I've actually finished something!!! This is the first thing I've finished in a year +, talk about a major dry spell. My skillz, what little I had to begin with, have suffered but this little kit was a lot of fun to build & required ZERO reference material ;) Hope I can continue knocking things out... Got my fingers crossed.

Anyhow, here's Fine Molds new 48th scale Snowspeeder. It's OOB stock, painted with Mr.Color Lacquers, and lightly weathered with pre/post shading & pastel chalks. Took a little over a week to complete, putting an hour or two in every couple of nights. No real hang-ups though the fit in some areas was a little iffy. Overall an enjoyable little kit to build <_<

Take a look & let me know what you think. Next on deck is a 35th scale Jagdpanther & 32nd Ki-44... Hope to finish these as well!!!

Thanks for looking, Mahalo Ahui Hou

Great job, Mark ! :coolio:

Ever since I was almost 13 and seen The Empire Strikes Back in 70mm with 6 Track Dolby Stereo on opening night, the Snowspeeder was a favorite of mine, Thanks for making me feel that way again !

Marvelous paint and weathering and the snow swept Star Wars logo on the base is a perfect touch ... :yahoo:

Thanks much gents, always appreciate the feed back & kind words :salute:

Gregg,

Dude that's two of us... The Snowspeeder has always been my favorite as well, Y-Wing a close second. Be nice to see a Y-Wing in 48th! Come to think of it, a Snowspeeder in 32nd would have been sweet! :D

Aloha all & thanks again! :crying2:

Aloha geedubelyer,

Those are all decals printed with paint chips... Makes things nice & easy for the lazy modeler (that would be me) They're VERY nice though & settle down with no silvering, even on a flat finish (no gloss coat & used the Mr.Color decal system).

Aloha Waco!

How's the course going? I've been pretty much desk bound, post AD tour... Trying to get OGV ready for the ASEV. Think I have a couple trips coming up, will PM you with the gouge :D Really enjoyed this little build, have a sub on the desk now, trying to get the motivation to tackle my Raptor kit! Thanks again for the kind words, again I'll PM ya with the latest.

Mahalo ahui hou all :D

Brings back memories. Great job, I like the speed brake opened on one end, though with that open might it have been better to position the craft in a bit of a turn?

Hard to say what that would do to the flight attitude aerodynamically (like that brick could actually fly in the real world!). Hard turn to port? nose up and to port? Anyway, using the as supplied stand, you're commited to flat and level.

Still... very clean smooth looking build and finish.

I've got one of these coming to me via R10... can't wait. Mine will serve two purposes, one as the kit and the other as a master pattern to scale this down to 1/72...
