majortomski
Just watched a wings of the luft on the JU-52. During a starting sequence they held up the #1 finger and then started the RH engine. In the US the left most outboard engine is #1. So is the European engine numbering convention different or was the Military channel up to its usual level of accuracy? johnsg
The film might have been reversed.
Finn
It's possible that the RH engine was started first as most multi engine a/c, each engine run various systems, brakes, hydraulics. etc so perhaps on the Ju-52 the right engine ran essential items. My guess. Jari
majortomski
Jari the issue is the pilot held up his #1 finger to say he was cranking #1 which should have been the LEFT engine, but then the right engine was started.
SimFixer
Do you remember what hand he used? If it appeared to be the left hand, then the film may have indeed been reversed, as someone suggested earlier.
ST0RM
Germans start counting with the thumb for 1, then the index finger for 2. Could be a possible answer, but I don't know the engine numbering sequence for the Ju.
