aircraftstories
To avoid polluting the thread of jeskiM (http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....198416&st=0), I decided to create another one for mine. The subject is the same : convert a B-1A from a B-1B. JeskiM has choosen 1/48 and me 1/72. So, the level of detailing will be different. I used revell's model : A review of this kit is available here : review The aim is to build the prototype number 4 : There are a lot of differences between a B-1A and B-1B. And there are differences between B-1A n°1/2/3 and B-1A n°4. Main differences between B-1A and B are : the overwing fairing : the shape of air intakes : and nose : and tail : About the landing gears, there is no difference between B-1A proto n°4 and B-1B. But it's not the case between B-1 n°1/2/3 and n°4.
aircraftstories
First step was to cut the overwing fairing : Special note for jeskiM : after studied your plan, I think that the angle of my cut is not good. Something like this should better : :) Add the dorsal spin : Modify air intakes : To be continued ...
JeskiM
Our two builds will be awesome ! ..... looks like I have some serious catching up to do ! Good to see the references are helping ya. - Matt
Youngtiger1
Very cool choice of subject. I too like the B-1A prototypes. I will sure to follow this thread so that i can learn what I will need to do when I build mine. Mike
aircraftstories
A big mistake of this kit is the junction / link between the canopy and the fuselage : But after correction, it's acceptable : I added vortex generators (number and positions are different on the B-1A compare to the B-1B) I added 2 ECM antennas on the wingtips ... and 2 antennas on top of the fuselage Next step will be the painting ... gloss white underside. Sentry30
Hi, Nice work so far! I'm not a Bone expert, but the isn't this camo know as Asia-Minor, and thus; FS20400 (X145) FS30140 (MM1736/1754E) FS34079 (X110, MM1710, H116) FS35622 (X149, H122) I did a Iranian F-4E using the Model Master brown ("light earth"), and for the other Xtracolor. Since my scale was 72nd, I scaled down the paint using 5% white and was pleased with the result. Looking forward seeing this one being painted! Daniël
