Here is my completed Tamiya P-47D Razorback.

Lots of pics so here is the photo bucket link.

Model was finished with Alcad II and Poly-S paints. I also used dry transfer tap for the black stripes. The aircraft was weathered with oil based paints and pastel chalks. Seat belts are Edward. Really nice model to build. It went very quick.

Okay, I'm done. Sorry, got away from doing in-progress trying to do three group builds side by side. Only other thing I did away from OOB was to use chrome plated large paper clips for the guns plus I used some PE parts from the delux kit, seat belts and anti-sway mounts for the bomb racks. I went ahead and used the kit decals since I couldn;t find some RAF markings. So we have P-49D-10RE of Maj. Hershel "Herkey" Green, 317th Squadron, 325th Fighter Group.

Thanks,

Chris

Some great work going on in this Group Build!

Since you can't go wrong with a Thunderbolt, I joined with a Tamiya 1/72 P-47D bubbletop. I built the razorback last year and it is a great kit, so I looked forward to building this one. A great stress reliever from work. Fortunately, I had some good hobby time over the past couple of weeks.

Here's my first completed P-47. The Tamiya 1/72 scale P-47's are just lovely little birds. The only areas that take a little work are around the guns and wing roots on the bottom.

My 1/72 Revell P-47D-30 in markings of the 1st Air Commando Group, China, Burma, India theater of operations, late 1944. A photo of the real aircraft is on the bottom. Quality is not very good. The ID band on the rudder seem to be lighter than color of the serial number which is black. The five diagonal stripes on fuselage are blue.

Here's mine.

Academy P-47D "Bubbletop" Thunderbolt built OOB, with ABT decals except for the Brazilian national insignia which were "built" with spares decals.

P-47D-25-RE, 226762 C1 of 1 GAVCA, Brazilian Air Force operating with Allied Forces in Italy, early 1945. Pilot was Captain Fortunato Camara de Oliveira.

Here's my Tamiya 1/72 Razorback kit, finished with enamels and Gunze lacquers and using kit decals (stand fast national insignia, which were slightly out of register; Aeromaster provided these). A very enjoyable build and I'd happily build another Tamiya razorback. Please ignore the faux pas I made of incorrectly attaching the inner gear door retraction jack - haste is no excuse, especially when the instructions address the particular issue.

Here's my finished Jug, final bits added yesterday. Revell's neat little P-47D-RE-30 with dark green and sky colour camouflage. The cowling decals reacted smartly and bedded down without any issue. I almost curled one side when applying it but rescued to the near demise of my poor heart :crying2: I added the two inboard 5" HVAR's even though Mayo's D-30 didn't carry them but I wanted some on this set. They were neat little units and look great, she's parked up on the 3rd shelf of my cabinet next to the Panther, Stug and Tiger II.

Here's the Rat I nicknamed Jug that my cat Teddy brought in. He was friendly actually but I let him go.

I skipped the WIP and went straight to finish.

Ultracast seat used and ignition wires added to the engine (which you can't see)Paints were the usual suspects including Halfords,Xtracrylix,Vallejo Model Air/Colour,Tamiya and Humbrol. The decals are a combination of Techmod and kit. What can you say about the kit except it goes together like a dream.

Here is my first attempt at aluminum foil. 1:32 Hasegawa kit. Loved the kit, and learned a lot about foiling. Will apply the lessons learned to the 1:32 T-33 kit when it finally comes out!
