CESSNA 182 1/50 "FINISHED"

Hi, friends!, this time I show you a proyect in scale 1/50, a chinesse kit, Minicraft Cessna 172.

But I want to arrive to this:

A mexican air force plane (light observation airplane), Cessna 182 skylane, well, let's go!

A firts step is to modify the floor and seats.

Look at the change on the seats, color and headrest, were modified.

After is necessary to modify the rear window too.

On the skylane is so:

Using the front window of the 1/72 uh-1n from Aeroplast, I get the correct one.

Sanding and polishing, I finish it.

I need to contour the shape.

The roof have to close it.

A very important point to change is the vertical rudder.

I cut it, and addition plastic according the forms.

But, I wacht the width.

The picture(up) is the correct one.

Cutting I rectified it.

Finally:

A little detail is upper rudder, the curve border.

The up pic is before, rectification is the down pic.

Oher important detail is the handles.

Using superglue and needle I get the new one.

To give the realism to model, I cut the control surfaces in the wings and join again.

I going to paint with Gunze and mixing the three color I get the approaching tone color.

I join the clear parts and painted the interior, apply a ligths cote of clear smoke Tamiya.

A very interesting point to need so much work, is the cowling, on the kit is so:

With a great imagination, superglue and much styrene.

I, too, am watching this one. I have a couple of the 172 kits in the stash and this will just add another Cessna to my collection. :pray:

Well, let's continue.

Once join the fuselage, I prepare the lights on the wings, I drilled a clear sprue, I sand and polish

And make a cavity for the lights, these are from Greif.

My friend super glue finished the detailed.

Look at into the cowling, I have had that increase weigth in great quantity.

Really this kit is a sh*/#.

I am going to steal your technique for making landing light lenses when I build my Cessna O-2/337 Skymaster! Thanks for sharing you build.

Well, now other point to work are the protection wheel, in the original model are of this way:

But, it must be so:

I cut and form the piece using labels the prue.

The ventral details were made in scracht.

For to make the propeller, I had to take the blades from other similar kit, O2-A Testors. To give the equal form, I draw a silhouetee on the plastic sheet, and I used the geometry to put it on the correct position.

Th cube was corrected using files.

And I check the assemble:

The antennas are the steel wire, and I separated the horizontal rudders.

Once painted the propeller, I going to decorate it.

A sheet of decals and the Custom Decal System, will be my signals.

Now I paint on black, and preshading on white.

Later I finished the kit on the paint green that I had preparated.

Is important to paint on white the rudder.

For the weathering I us gray oils and cote with thin green.

Now I apply decals, from Aztec sheet, numbers from tecmod.

Finally a mix flat an crystal cote fifty-fyfty on the kit.

The navigation lights are in resin from CMK.

Like a last step my model took part in the Leon contest 2010, winning firts place in its category.

Very nice andd instructive build! I flew a lot on 182 but never thought about that conversion.

Great piece of convincing work with a miserable kit, particularly since the "real" C172 and C182 have different fuselages!
