Italeri 1/48 F-4J Phantom II

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Jan and Denis, thanks for your kind words!

Why don´t you build this beauty on?

Well, I started other kits also and this one got lower priority. Too many models, so little time. Check my Intruder and Super Hornet.

I also give you a hint about my current favorite (I will start an in-progress topic for this later, hence the text on the photo):

But after the Intruder is finished, I'll switch back to the Phantom. Seriously.

Cheers,

Zoli

Hi!

Judging from your initial comments, you are far too modest. I enjoyed reading this thread. Beautiful job, sir! I'm hoping to see more soon! :)

Thanks a lot, Walt!

I didn't make any progress on the Phantom since 2011 January as life (job, family) and other models got in the way. I want to finish an A-6E Intruder and an Italeri 1/72 Super Hornet before getting back to this one - I'm hoping to make some progress in this year.

Regards,

Zoli

Hi everyone!

I touched this model in 2011 January last time. Since then I finished other models - now it's time to get back to this one and complete it. Before assembling the intakes and the airframe the area behind the intakes should be painted. So I finished and masked the cockpit to be able to paint the sides.

Mareku, thank you! But real detail masters build 1/18 Tomcats, aren't they? ;) That model is truely inspiring for me...

Hi Laz,

no problem - I'm serious. I want to clean up the WIP section of the shelf... ;)

:jaw-dropping: Holy cow, way to turn an ugly, useless kit into a beauty. BTW we share the same thoughts on scratchbuilding, it's addictive!

Hi ThunderWeasel,

thanks for the kind words. Scratchbuilding is a great fun! :)

Cheers,

Zoli

Hi everyone!

This project is still not dead... just the progress is waaaay too slow. The whole fuselage including wings was assembled, then the gaps were fixed and some masking was done to prepare the painting process.

That's all for now - I hope you like this. I'm currently masking and painting the wheel wells. Next time I will post images of it.

Hi,

I'm just catching up to this build and I got to say, you have some very clever ideas going on here. I would have never thought to consider this kit but you're really making it look great!

Hi Zoli,

very nice & clean build so far, also nice fixing on the intakes.

I've never tried the powder trick but I will give a go to it.

Good luck for the rest of the job.

I'll be waitingt the updates.

Regards,Laz

Hi Steven,

many thanks! I simply enjoy scratchbuilding parts - and do not want to wait and hunt for aftermarket stuff...
