ElectroSoldier
Im guessing most all of you have seen the flight school that is offering the chance to have a flight in a Foxbat, Flanker or Fulcrum, Have you done it, or personally know somebody who has done it? Is it worth considering or just a scam?
Kalashnikov-47
I got a Ride in a DOSAAF An-2 in Kiev for $15. A little later I paid $15 again, this time I got into the cockpit and talked the pilot into letting me fly it. Actually "flying" an An-2 is a misnomer as the aircraft is so stable it flies itself. Considering the MiG/Sukhoi rides cost tens of thousands of dollars, the An-2 is as close as I'll ever get. I think Ken Duffey ("Flankerman") had some sort of a flight in an L-39 Albatros. ElectroSoldier
I saw the costs... like $16k... Well worth it, but I dont think the bank manager would give me a loan for it lol... vince14
It's not a scam, I know that for sure. You do have to meet some fairly strict medical conditions before they'll let you in one, so people will need to think about that first. There's also Thunder City in Cape Town, who offer flights in a Lightning and Buccanneer. I think they come in a bit cheaper than the Russians, and the weather's better to boot! Vince Yeah you cant impress the hell outa your Russian girlfriend with a ride S Africa ))) All the flights Ive seen are run from Moscow! As to the medical "tests" Im guessing they are all done AFTER the money is handed over?
Flankerman
As Kalshnikov-47 says, I had two flights in Russia - in Aero L-39's belonging to 'Team Rus'. It was a lot cheaper than a MiG-25 or Su-27 - just 300USD for 30 minutes.... The full story of my flights is here Of course it will be more expensive now than it was in 1998/9 - but not by much. Their website is still working...... http://www.vyazmarus.com/ Ken
