jetdx
Recently I applied the Eduard canopy masking set to my 1:48 HobbyBoss A-10. After I applied them to the canopy I realized that maybe I should have waited for a while longer. I am VERY paranoid about tape residue. How long can I leave the masking set on the clear canopy before I get tape residue?
cksh
Never had trouble with their tape leaving residue. I always have my masks on for a week at least. I do dip my canopies in future so maybe that helps. Sometimes I use scotch tape which can leave a residue. But it is easy to polish off regardless
Jamie Cheslo
If you are using the Eduard Kabuki masks (those are the ones that are made out of Tamiya Tape) then you should not have a problem with residue at all. As a rule of thumb, I always stick the masks to my hand and peel a couple of times just to wear off a little of the adhesive. I also always dip my canopies in Future which I think makes a difference. If you follow this routine, you should be able to leave the masks on for weeks without any issues. Then you can sleep at night! J.C.
jetdx
Thanks for the input. That all eases my worry. BTW, I think everyone dips their canopies in Future. If not, they need to! My brother just got back into modeling and he had never heard of it but he is going to!
Andy Mullen
How long can I leave the masking set on the clear canopy before I get tape residue? I had left the Eduard masking/ Tamiya tape on my last 2 Tomcat builds for about a year and a half with no residue. I did, however, dip them in Klear before I had applied the masking.
