Finn Posted April 29, 2010 Share Posted April 29, 2010 At the Ejection History site they had this in the USAF A-7 section: 4th August 1988 USAF A-7D Corsair II 72-0257 166th TFS OH ANG Tyndall AFB Shot down with AMRAAM i think the AMRAAM was under going testing during that time frame, did one go astray? Holmes, I don't see anything in the first link about it, the second link lists it, but there's no amplifying details. I can't imagine a circumstance at WSEP that would put an A-7D in that situation. They had only started coming to WSEP a year or so before to fire the AIM-9, so that couldn't be it. I flew drone chase on a couple of AIM-120 test shots a year or so prior to that, and they were (as always) very careful about clearing the shoot box of surface and air traffic.
