Aaronw
I've been making up some bases for my models to sit on, mostly pre-WW2 so grass is working fine. I do have some Navy planes though and thought a little piece of generic carier deck would look good for them. How wide was the planking on on the typical wood decked carrier? Also was their a set length for the planks? I'm just looking at a generic carrier so an average or most common size is fine if there was some significant variation. Mackie
Just looking through some pics online and I would guess that the width of a plank is approx. the width of a wheel - i.e. scale 1/4" - so that would make the planks 6" wide. Looking at this pic, the planks look really long, maybe 12-14" long making them 48'+ long in real life?!? I just don't know about that... Good luck.
Julien (UK)
I have some PDF files for wooden carrier deck. PM me you email and I can send them to you. They look pretty good when printed out on a standard inkjet printer. Julien
