I'm starting a new project..it will be a Corsair II E with some extra details: Aires set: Detail to be removed: now, I need to fill the marks inside the intake: removing the end of the intake, (I'll need access to fill it) As usual, comments and recommendations are welcome... Pete W
Javier, If you haven't already cut it out, be careful how much you remove from the model fuselage for where the intrument coaming goes. I have just built this kit using the Aires cockpit and you don't need to remove as much as they suggest. Dry fit the cockpit and save yourself some filling later. Left a big gap to fill. And for anyone thinking about it, the cutting edge intake cannot be used with the aires nose gear well. I've sanded both to paper and they're still not even close to fitting. Gaspa
Question: How can I create the yellow border? Hi Javier, I used in my Corsair thin stripes of yellow decal cut to size, and I used Future and a fine brush to help it settle on the right place. It did not matter if the contour was to be curved, the Future can "bend" the decal, you just apply on one end first, to get it to settle, and then after a little while - when it's already a bit dry and sticky - you continue pouring Future over another section of the decal (I worked about 0.5cm a time) and repeat until done. All it takes is finding an yellow decal of suitable color and cutting it to size. Here's the end result: Congrats for the build, it's looking awesome!
jcasilimas
Thanks Gaspa. I'll try your technique, sound good. ;) I'll post the result. regards, Javier
Razor63
Great job Gaspa. For the panel you have used Eduard, or Aires? Can you explain to me as you have worked on the panel? Tks
jcasilimas
Great job Gaspa. For the panel you have used Eduard, or Aires? Can you explain to me as you have worked on the panel? Tks Razor for the panel I used Eduard, but the cockpit was from Aires. this is the Aires part: this is the Eduard panel(left side) and the Aires at the right side: together: I clean the front panel of aires set, then cut the sides of the eduard to fit it inside (dry fit), then dry fit again on the cockpit because the eduard is a little bit wide (I did it with a file). also, I used the front buttons (Photo-etched part) from Aires on top of the Eduard set, and applied kristal klear for the display windows (on the picture its not dry yet) Regards Javier

jcasilimas
Looking great, Javier! Sorry if my method did not work as expected...did you run into any difficulties while using it? Hi Gaspa the problem was not method, actually that was a really good solution, the difficulty was that decal got dry on the process and it start breaking on parts as soon as I try to adjust the curve... next time I'll try to do it by small sections... thanks for the comment Javier
