mlicari
This is great stuff! Mike
Army_Air_Force
Tailplanes, oil cooler intake, and canopy rails fitted tonight, plus the filler around the wing joint sanded down. Painting won't be far away. So what's the best way of masking the open areas?
mlicari
So what's the best way of masking the open areas? Damp tissue? That's how I mask wheel wells. :) Mike
Army_Air_Force
Tissue; worth a try. Elevators attached tonight and the clear parts coated in Future and left to dry.
Army_Air_Force
Been a while! The project hasn't stalled, just been really busy with work and other stuff, plus all my spray gear is at work while we finish the 1/6 scale B-26 Flak Bait. I'll get back to the P-36 soon. Old Man
Glad to see you are still on this, Sir! A great project!
Army_Air_Force
Here's 'Flak Bait' finished, but as yet unflown. One of the reasons for the delay in the P-36 build. Edited October 5, 2010 by Army_Air_Force
Army_Air_Force
I really must get my finger out and get some paint for this project! Does anyone know the correct four Humbrol colours for the following French colour scheme?
Army_Air_Force
I finally got my finger out and bought some paint this morning. I've decided to brush paint the camo, as with four colours and the open structure, it will save a load of hastle on masking. I'll give it a final sprayed matt coat to even everything out at the end. So tonight the camo was marked out and the underside was painted. I have to get this project finished and out of the way ready for the B-17 Group Build!
Kostucha
Well, it'll be absolutely great to see this P-36 as she gets built up and finished. And then your B-17! You've definitely got my attention Stephen. Cheers! Mark.
Army_Air_Force
What do you know! I actually got some painting done last night and tonight. It appears a bit thin in the pictures, but it is just a first coat which is now being left to harden. I decided to follow the kit camo pattern rather than try and copy the fullsize shown above, as I don't want to start altering/making new decals just to match the Fighter Collection example when the kit decals are very similar. Yesterday, the underside was done first... followed by the upper surface blue/grey. Edited October 6, 2010 by Army_Air_Force
Army_Air_Force
Then tonight, I got the green and brown painted.
Kostucha
Lookin REAL GOOD!
stevehnz
Flipping awesome. I wouldn't/couldn't even attempt it but it doesn't stop me being hugely impressed by the skills being shown. Steve.
Army_Air_Force
Thanks. This is my first attempt at a cutaway, and I've learned a huge amount from it; which was the whole reason for trying it on a small kit first.
Army_Air_Force
Second coat of green on today. If I can get another colour done in the morning before work, it will be dry enough to handle for a third colur tomorrow night.
mlicari
This is DARN good. Nice job! Mike
Army_Air_Force
All the camo except the underside blue has had a second coat now.
Army_Air_Force
Underside blue second coated today. Almost ready for decalling and final assembly.

javlin
Look'in sweet!!
Army_Air_Force
No pictures yet. It doesn't look any different to those shown above, except for the paint finish looking more even with its second coat.
moofles
Looking damned good.
Army_Air_Force
A little more progress tonight. Mainly detail painting of small parts such as the landing gear, pitot, aerial etc. I also did a little painting on a Dornier 335 I was given in an almost complete state that a friend had lost interest in. I've also been spending my time building this Meteorological Instrument panel for the back of my Dodge Weapons Carrier. All the dials and clocks work.
