Best model shop in Toronto or GTA?

Recommended Posts

Im going to be in Toronto tomorrow, passing through/close to Brampton, Mississauga, North York, Toronto, and Scarborough. I need to stock up on some supplies, get a few kits... what is the best shop in the GTA?

I have heard of Northstar Military Hobbies in Mississauga, never been there.

John's Hobbies on the Danforth... but I showed up there 5 mins to close one day after driving 3 hours, and he closed early and shooed me away before close... I know, he was closing, but couldnt he spare 5 mins? I was going to buy $50-60 worth of supplies.

Any other must hit shops?

Wings and Wheels on the Danforth is IMO the best in Toronto. Great all round shop, covers most all genres. http://www.wheelswingshobbies.com/

Aviation World great for aircraft and books http://www.aviationworld.net/ Hornet Hobbies is great for supplies http://www.hornethobbies.supersites.ca/

They all have excellent staff that are model builders and down to earth people. HTH

I think I will hit Wings and Wheels and John's... they are both on the danforth, and I will be there long before John's closes :woot.gif: I remember John's has a decent model railroad selection too.

I only went to Wheels and Wings due to time constraints. We parked in front of a playground so my wife and son went to play while I went to plastic heaven!

Well, all said and done, I walked away with a AMT Enterprise D, an Italeri X-32, and a Italeri EF-2000, both 1:72. I also got some glue, and a couple fast blast (?) caps for my Badger 150 (yeah, I know, siphon bad).

Wheels and Wings is by far the best plastic modeling shop in Toronto, nay Ontario, if not Canada! Not a sign of RC or model railroad anywhere! Just well organized boxes of plastic. One side is all aviation (with a small space section), the back room is armor, and the other side is naval with a bit dedicated to autos. Floor to ceiling, perfectly stacked, by brand and general category (jet, WWI, WWII, airliner). Some kits were resealed, but clearly labeled as such, I had no concern at all buying a resealed kit from them!

Really, if you are near Toronto, Wheels and Wings at 1880 Danforth Ave is a mandatory stop! I cant wait till the next time I get to go! 5 thumbs up!
