Now, as far as Nukes in Turkey.............they are not there.

Did you see anything concrete on this?  If so, got a link?   I know the US typically doesn’t discuss nuclear weapons deployment but with relations with an unstable, anti-western regime apparently going further downhill, I really hope this is accurate.

A quick google search brought only one hit that supports the move of weapons out of turkey:

https://www.euractiv.com/section/global-europe/news/us-moves-nuclear-weapons-from-turkey-to-romania/

All other articles just described the potential problem that could come with US nukes still in turkey.

HAJO

Interesting...

I'd be very surprised if these weapons were moved to Romania.   I think the US still has operational storage facilities in the UK, Germany and possibly the Netherlands.  Not sure what Romania would offer unless the other nations above balked at having these nukes brought in. In that case, why not just bring them back to the US?

If these weapon's can't be removed (and I assume that Turkey would be watching them closely and would act if they saw them being transported out of country), hopefully as a last resort if things really go south, the US has the ability to at least remove / disable the weapon's arming mechanism and somehow render them inert.

Doesn't take a Masters Degree in International Relations to see where the US / Turkey relationship has been going for the last few years.  Gotta believe that the US has taken some actions to protect these weapons.

Thanks for the cool vid, TT!

A) Nice job sticking that landing on a ~7000’ runway at altitude. 🙂

B) USAF markings are so boring these days that you can’t tell which squadron the aircraft is from without zooming in. Would it kill them to put a red tail flash on the 34th FS planes?

Surprisingly, the US seems to be playing hardball with Turkey over their decision to keep moving forward with purchasing the Russian S400 SAM system.  The USAF has just grounded all Turkish pilots who were currently training on the F-35 at Luke, have ceased accepting any new Turkish maintenance / flight trainees into the program and have developed a roadmap to completely wind down Turkey's participation in the JSF program.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/11/politics/us-air-force-turkish-f-35-pilots/index.html

I have a feeling Turkey will end up reacting to all this in a most negative fashion.  Hope we finally decided to move all those nuclear weapons of ours out of Incirlik AFB...  May not be a bad idea to remove all our personnel from Turkey while we are at it.

Going to be real interesting to see how this all plays out.

Yes, but the Stepper Across the DMZ now says that Turkey has been "treated very unfairly" over this whole S-400/F-35 thing (it was Obama's fault): http://www.defense-aerospace.com/article-view/release/203992/in-u_turn%2C-trump-now-says-turkey-treated-unfairly-over-s_400-deal.html

There's apparently a bit of a disconnect between the President and the "Deep State" (USAF, Department of Defense, etc.) on this issue.

Cheers,

Scott

The only consistency we have these days is inconsistency.   I'm sure Turkey and their newfound allies will soon get their hands on this jet.  On another note, the F-35 might be getting a new AAM in the future.

At least represent what he said was unfair, it wasn't the F-35 thing, it was related to being denied Patriot purchases years ago.

What he is saying is that Turkey was treated unfairly about the Patriot vs. S-400, and is also, as I understand it, that messing around with them over the F-35 program is not great. That certainly seems to be an undercurrent in just about every story I read. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting this, but it doesn't appear to me that Trump's statement is reinforcing what I thought was the American position on the S-400 purchase and F-35 participation.

He said that Turkey had been “treated very unfairly” in its efforts to buy Patriots

the US president acknowledged the concerns of the Pentagon that Nato F-35 jets “aren’t compatible” with Turkey buying the S-400 system.

Our Shermans are the greatest tanks.  A really terrific, great tank.
