smutz
Hi guys, can the hobbyboss CH46D be built as a Nam chopper looking to build a Nam era USMC 53 is there any differences or backdating needed ?. Thanks Andy. Edited May 30, 2010 by smutz
Tank
I didn't know they made one. I didn't see them on there website. http://www.hobbyboss.com/a72.htm I did see a UH-34D. 163 did do a few tours in Nam. Most images I saw were with straight legs but I did see few with bent legs and IIRC black markings. Timeframe would be 68.
Tank
Best I know, the kit can be built as a Nam bird but you can't use those markings. http://www.hobbyboss.com/87213.htm Now I have seen another release that had the 262 decals but also the Mars markings also (same as the fujimi kit). Early years 62- 262 had white marking but flew 34's. 66-71 they flew the 46D but from what I have seen they all had black markings. Those white markings are correct but for Hawaii 77. http://www.scale-rotors.com/files/u34/0193280.jpg http://www.scale-rotors.com/files/u34/0193281.jpg HMM-774 didn't serve in Nam. When they had MQ-411 it was an Echo, which you can't build OOB with any 72 scale kit. That bird did serve in Nam as it was the bird that removed the ambassador from Saigon in 75. http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Marin...6f25d8b44f1a9e1 http://www.marines.mil/unit/3rdmaw/Pages/M...storyalive.aspx

Except for the foot holes looking a little big for the scale for me, I plan to do the same thing if I can to my Fujimi/Testors kits.
