X-Plane Fan Posted June 1, 2010 Share Posted June 1, 2010 The latest models off the bench are the Bandai B-1 'Gyro-plane' completed without the 'gyro' installed and custom markings, also a very modified Hasegawa F-4 transformed into the YRF-4 CCV with the gun removed and camera mod as well as the installation of canards, not to mention the custom markings. I have (and have built) the C-5 from that series, pulled from the bottom of a back shelf in a hobby shop where it had been sitting for well over a decade, but I have never seen any of the others in the series anywhere. I took the C-5 to Shizuoka this year, and even the guys from Bandai couldn't remember ever seeing one before! There were four in that series that I know of: C-5, B-1, B-52 and A-10. The egg shapes take a lot of test fitting to get correct, but it's well worth it once they're done. Tony It looks so easy... But I know it's not. I had previously built their F-4 and F-20 (found those on the bottom shelf at a hobby shop as well), and just recently found someone in Japan selling the B-1, C-5 and B-52 (at way more than what I paid for the first two). I too missed out on the A-10 but hope to find one some day. I have the C-5 on the table now and have the B-52 on the side waiting to be done.
