Trigger
And as I think on it, I can't wait for a good set of line-drawings to appear on the web, so the color profile what-iffers here start coming up with some really wild finishes for this bird. Those are always entertaining to me, especially with the late-generation stuff. Already got my first scheme in mind... I like the look of the T-50, but even I don't think it's awesome enough to sport that color scheme. Edited June 18, 2010 by Trigger
Alvis 3.1
Cool looking plane, and I love the last picture of Vlad stalking towards the camera. He has a good chance of being the next "Bond" villian, if they ever make another "Bond" film. Maybe a film named "Flankers are Forever"? ;) Regardless of what it can do or what is supposedly can do, it's a pretty cool looking plane. I hope everyone here who is a fanboy or a detractor clearly remember their positions years from now when the actual abilities come out. I'll be keeping score until then. Alvis 3.1
Dude, what's that all about? Who are you talking about? Are you channelling Kurt Plummer?Pig AAAA!!!!! Speak not the name of Kurt Plummer lest it bring down doom and destruction upon us all! (or at least a 30,000 word diatribe about relative missile engineering descriptions and terminology known only to a select few uber designers) Alvis 3.

Will we, outside the defense establishment ever learn the "actual abilities" of either jet? And even that, as has often been said, is somewhat subjective. Fanboy is the right term. The whole thing as a Mac-PC air to it. I like the look of the T-50, but even I don't think it's awesome enough to sport that color scheme. Putin didn't even go there. And he won't. Not if he wants any credibility tomorrow morning.
splatcat
Its defi9nitely cool looking. If will eat F-22s for breakfast? Who knows? Thsi will be a subject for debate for many years.

Sean Bratton
I still don't get where anyone can think the T-50 was copied from the F-22. Hoping he used proper spelling, diction and grammar, Sean
Antonov
Boeing now in planning process of a 6th generation fighter.....By the time the Russians and Indians have this aircraft operational, they'll be playing catch-up again. And yet, it'll still be a dozen years earlier than the first F-35 goes operational
CrazyIvan
There's plenty of movies on it on youtube. Here's a link to a good example which shows off the profile of the whole aircraft. It basically reminds me of an F22 front end, has a low profile and under fueslage intakes of the F23 (which I still think looked better) and the back end of an Sukhoi with the thrust vector nozzels thrown in. Its a nice looking aircraft and hopefully will make the grade and get into production. And hopefully someone makes a 1/32 Kit of it. Stuart

Fishwelding
Putin knows cool Sometime around 1986, in a last bid to save the Soviet Empire, the KGB initiated "Operation McQueen," an effort to reengineer the Soviet state from within to get rid of the stuffy, dowdy conservative look-and-feel of the Soviet bureaucracy. Of course, things fell apart too quickly for the plan to succeed. But some Agents who underwent "style reeducation" are supposedly still out there...

sharkey
I am very Liberal, but there is something about Putin that just kicks ***. He is without a doubt the coolest leader. He's always doing bad *** stunts like tagging polar bears, ridding horseback, taking his shirt off, riding tanks and now checking out fighters. He is without a doubt super wicked. I wouldn't under estimate Russian fighters, I'm not saying its up to par with the F-22 (it probably isnt) but the Russians always find a way to make cheap rugged fighters that in the right hands are dangerous. Berkut
Comrades/Fellow Travelers, etc. - If you really want to view the opinion of more armchair experts, recliner aces, aerospace engineers who matriculated from Bugtussle University, etc. there has been a very long and detailed thread about the T-50/PAK-FA at this site: http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php Or maybe, just maybe i have been on that site for several years? Check it out if you do not have sufficient aggravation in your life, and have absolutely nothing else to do this weekend. Either that or let's beat up on the F-35 some more....-Dan (Still an Evil Sith Suck-Up, with occasional twinges of conscience) Dan, there is no aggravation from me in this thread. Lots of sarcasm, and a touch of "oh-not-this-again". If you are trying to imply i have badtalked F-35, then you are wrong. Well, almost. I think it is ugly, but i think that thought is shared by many, but beyond that it is a nice plane.

Trigger
The first part was intended as a "heads up"/general information and a joke. The second part was intended (though apparently not perceived) purely as a joke.... nothing personal. Right. You're (relatively) new here, so you may not have noticed that there are to be NO jokes in any PAK-FA/T-50 thread. Exceptions being F-22 fat jokes, Tweet references, Canadian SH-3s and jokes about the infinite superiority of the F-14 Tomcat (Wait, what?.... Okay, I've just been informed that those in fact weren't intended as jokes. Had me fooled). Also, don't mention that to date, T-50 is just an aerodynamic prototype, question the purpose of the fairings at the wing roots (they obviously contain rotary launchers for a dozen R-73s. Each.), any outline-shape commonality with the F-22, the panel lines, or question if production ready examples will be on the ramp in 4.5 years. It's faster than the Blackbird, flies higher than Jerry Garcia on a saturday afternoon and is more agile than a spastic Su-37. Only adulation, worship and favorable comparisons to all things aviation (yes, even the DHC-6) are permitted, so on your knees fanbois! Anything else, you're just being a hater. Sean Bratton
Trigger, That's mention of two Canadian aircraft in one post. Be careful or soon you may have the urge to buy a Hobbycraft kit (individual results may vary). And just for the record we don't have SH-3's, we have CH-124's. Using that term (and proper timing) will greatly increase the effectiveness of said joke. Cheers, eh, Sean Edited June 19, 2010 by Sean Bratton

Be careful or soon you may have the urge to buy a Hobbycraft kit (individual results may vary). I, for one, blame credit the Olympics. And just for the record we don't have SH-3's, we have CH-124's. Using that term (and proper timing) will greatly increase the effectiveness of said joke. I have a theory that CH-124 can work as the punchline for any joke. Why did the chicken cross the road? CH-124. The Pope and Tom Cruise walk into a bar... CH-124. ...and so the farmer brought his daughter up to the house... CH-124.

Frankhenrylee
Nice. And it's their, not there. This from someone who doesn't speak English as his first language. Throughout recent history the russians(and I meant to not capatalize that) have stolen most of "there" technology from the U.S.. Its plain to see in the numerous carbon copies of various planes they have built. Its amazing to me that someone makes a simple comment pointing out some things he's noticed about a picture and all of the sudden I'm being questioned about my grammar and my expertise in the field of stealth and aviation technology. Jeez, I build models, besides I said I was no expert. I figured that would have been a clue that I was wanting to hear some comments about the things I mentioned to see if anyone else knew anything about it. Communism must be contagious.
