Closer - the thing is there is a difference between retro & retro like. LtDann's is retro, except for the cerberus logo. So far yours is retro like & still in need of some research. I know you guys are modern jet oriented & I love the current scheme for the S-3 show bird, but do yourself & VX-30 a favor and research the subject matter a bit more. Look at builds online here & at Hyperscale, look at decal sheets & profiles by some of the more notable artists that have a rep for accuracy. No one is ever 100% but it will get you closer. Look at the red borders here and compare with yours.

Well we went off of what VX-30 wanted, which was a paint scheme based off the Avenger but still keeping the current markings, so that's what we did. Now if they said make it total retro and markings to match then they would have been done that way. Trust me it was researched. Were not just pulling "stuff" out the sky. We did what was asked.

Either way can't wait to see the paint scheme, glad to have helped out. :D

Hey Fuji - Long time bud! We don't doubt your research and info but what we were tasked by the squadron to do wasn't necessarily 100% exact retro. Believe me, we did a lot of research and put forth the designs and data the squadron tasked us to do. We conservatively donated 50 hours of our time to help them out. We has suggested some historical stuff that they veto-ed in favor of 'retro-like' as you put it. We were asked to provide historical designs within the confines of the modern markings and data.

What they chose to do with the designs isn't our deal. We were just happy to help them out with what they wanted to see. Btw - we've got a few Superhornet designs that we were asked to do as well... :D

Here's a look at a few of the designs that we provided. Includes the tri-tone, gull gray (real aircraft were silver) red and blue tails and atlantic scheme. We had a few others as well. The yellow wings had FLY NAVY across the top of the wings!

Can't wait to see how the final paint job comes out!

All,

You will be seeing some interesting paint schemes, and the great thing is.....aircraft like the T-45 and T-6B will not get repainted until their next PMI....a long time from now.

A T-39N went to paint on Friday in Perryville MO. It will be silver with yellow wings, blue tail and blue section markings. That aircraft and the HSC-2 MH-60S in overall blue are the next two aircraft we should expect to see.

By the way, the HSC-3 MH-60S is not Engine Gray, it is overall Glossy Sea Blue

Aw man, why another blue tail? Sure, I love the Enterprise, but why not lemon yellow, white, willow green, or red for the tail group? The Enterprise wasn't the ONLY colorful USN air group in the 1930s, ya know.

Whatever the case, I'm sure it'll be drop-dead gorgeous when done... :)

With a HUGE thanks to Gabe Pincelli, DRAW Decal is pleased to announce the release of decals for both Centennial T-45Cs in 1/72.

Yes, there are inaccuracies in the Testors/Italeri kit, as far as representing production aircraft out of the box; however, a decent model can be made from the kit with a few corrections/modifications. The website also has a link to a gallery of Gabe's terrific photographic efforts.
