Kostucha
A few quick pictures. First is a close up shot showing the bricks and weeds: And two mock ups looking from the port side: Cheers, Mark.
Neo
I like it its comming along great Keep up the great progress Cheers Neo btw thanks again for the engines
Kostucha
Neo, glad to know that the engines got there alright! That's great stuff, and I hope you can use them for anything up coming. They should definitely add a great touch. So, I took a bit of time to mask... but not enough... Here's the shot of the red after it's been shot: Looks a bit wide, but the airbrush was fairly narrow, I just had a lot of fun trying it out on this, so I capitalized on the masking tape. And here it is after the tapes been pulled: I was initially happy with the results, until I pulled the very front off and found that I masked a bit too much. But, thats nothing that a fine tip brush and red paint cant fix. Unfortunately some of the tape pulled some white off near the back of the canopy, but again, fine tip brush to the rescue. Cheers! Mark.
Kostucha
GAH! This build is going to be the death of me!!! Stinkin RCAF Lightning bolt!!! Why?! WHY DID WE HAVE TO HAVE THESE ON OUR AIRCRAFT?!!!! I'm never painting them again, decals, and decals only. *Pictures to come later tonight*
Kostucha
So, masking the second part of the lightning bolt around the canopy, here's where I started: The section masked... little by little... And the mismatched thicknesses of the red/white/red. A lot of touching up is going to be needed... Although... when you look back from a few inches further back, it doesn't look too bad, does it? Cheers, Mark.
richter111
Looking beautiful, the B-25 is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever in my opinion.

Kostucha
Thanks guys... but I've had it! This is where I got to tonight, when I realized what I was doing... trying to do needle point with a toothpick: As soon as I took that picture, I said "Nope!" There are far too many problems, at least for me. Given that this is going to be a gift to the school, and so much work has been put into it already, I'm not going to let the lightning bolt ruin it. It's getting to the point where I'm looking at it and saying "what am I doing?" I'm stopping there, going to strip the fuselage as far as it needs to be, (not the a/c as a whole, JUST the fuselage). Shoot it silver & white along with the anti glare section of flat black, and get my hands on something I should have gotten some time ago, the CANMILAIR decal set for the Canadian Mitchell. I'm not going to be giving them something I'm not satisfied with. So! If anyone's got that set, and are willing to part with it, I'd be more than happy to pay for fast rate shipping to get it here by next weekend... Anyone? Anyone at all? This is the add on ARC I put up... yep, these decals right now are worth a 1/48 Tamiya Dam Buster with resin tires if you're up for it... or just straight cash (errr... paypal or cheque)... Cheers, Mark. Edited September 10, 2010 by Kostucha
Obant
Great job Mark, I know you're frustrated but keep plugging away; it'll come good I'm sure! Grant
Kostucha
Thanks Grant. Well, she's stripped. I'll have some shots later on tonight of how she looks now. And how she will shortly. Going to spray the white on first, and then mask it according to the lightning's line, and then spray on the silver. Friday night fun... Cheers, Mark.
phantom
The Canmilair sheet will work should you find it. Should see if I have a photo of my completed one somewhere.
Kostucha
The Canmilair sheet will work should you find it. Should see if I have a photo of my completed one somewhere. How did the Canmilair decals work for you?
phantom
Perfect. The only issue was MY building. Might re-do this one day. That and the BIG thing is I used too early of a Mitchell for my build.
Kostucha
Awesome! Thanks for your post, and your Mitchell is lookin' pretty slick! Cheers, Mark.
Kostucha
Waiting to hear back from Bill at CanMilAir how long it's going to take to get those decals from him - 4-8 weeks. Which isn't bad. So, while in the process of being stripped, and the fuselage repainted, this one is going to be spending a lot of time on the waiting section of the work bench while work slowly continues on the Hurricane. Cheers, Mark.

Kostucha
Mark,Found the thread and have seen the pickle you're in. wmburns
. . . . . Work will continue very shortly.Cheers, Mark. Ahhh, but did they arrive in time??
Kostucha
Bill, Unfortunately they didn't get here in time for the show in Winnipeg. HOWEVER, the show would have been a bonus, the whole goal of this build though was to get this done and presented as a gift. I will say this though, I appreciate your work and efforts to help me out so very, very much! And the quality of the printing is steller as well good Sir! Thank you. Cheers, Mark. Kostucha
Well, I finally got back at 'er... Stripped down, white is painted on, just drying now, and then once dry, the silver will be painted on followed by the anti-glare flat black. I hate working with white... Especiallygloss white. But, I'll give 'er a couple nights to dry, then back at er again. Cheers, Mark.
Kostucha
FML... base of the display is done and drying... pictures hopefully tonight. Going to need to either get another bottle of future, or order another canopy, and a new landing gear leg. I searched high and low... can't find that bloody Starboard MLG leg to save my life... Kostucha
A bottle of white rum is a great idea! As well as asking in the spares portion. Thanks for the idea Neo! Cheers, Mark.
Kostucha
So, the white is on, and the silver, and the rest of the paint. So, I started decalling. I've got only one thing to say: To Bill (at CanMilAir), or anyone who is thinking of using his decals... WOW!!! I have NEVER used decals that are this good!!! SO easy to use (cut, remove/trim carrier film, overlap, paint... Etc... Etc... Etc...), no problems, no troubles, and boy do they look good! Pictures up tomorrow morning. Cheers, Mark.
