infideon
anyone knows of which F-4 from hasegawa 1/48 has recessed panels? I got one today but to my dismay its raised!
dsmith
For Hasegawa F-4 kits in 1/48, the B/N, C/D, and the first issue of the F-4J (P1 with JR markings) all have raised lines. Everything else is engraved. Here is a chart that will be of great help. Haswgawa kit charts Cheers, -Doug :)

Another confusing bit is Hasegawa a couple years ago issued a limited production recessed panel line F-4J with the SAME Jolly Roger painting artwork and decals as the raised panel line one (The box art style is different as it features the more modern white borders). infideon
so why do they issue raised and recessed? why cant they just release the recessed one?
dsmith
I don't think that the raised panel line -J has ever been released after they came out with the recessed one. However, Hasegawa never bothered to make new tool parts for what you would need for a B/N or C/D. But don't worry if you want one of those, I have conversions coming up soon Cheers, -Doug

I saw the first pre-production parts at Omacon a few months ago and the conversion looks NICE. I tried to convince him to let me "try" the parts since the guy they were intended for didn't make it to the show. But I guess my Jedi mind trick didn't work so well (my midichlorean count must be too low). :)
